I think I've caught a cold from my nibblings. I've been pretty careful about masking around them but I got lax with it because it's been so hot and it was so uncomfortable aaand this is what I get, lol. The symptoms are annoying but really mild, it hardly feels like more than allergies. I stayed home from work today anyhow to avoid spreading it and I might do the same tomorrow. I really don't like losing more PTO so early in the year but I'd rather do that than make it worse or bring someone down with me.
Most of the day was spent resting, of course, but I also touched up that simple custom from yesterday and she's basically done! I'll check in a few days whether the paint needs and touching up and the head I've got on her is temporary because I just want a quick hit of serotonin and having to sculpt over and paint her original one wasn't conductive to that end.
Here's the canceled deco I was inspired by:
[Image: A pair of photographs of "Halloween Horrorcon" Blackarachnia, one in robot mode and one in spider mode. She has a bulky black and red body with her gold spider eyes on her pelvis in bot mode, silver spider legs and a purple head with green visor. In bot mode, she brandishes a red, black and silver crossbow-like weapon. In spider mode, she has a yellow hourglass shape on her abdomen.]
And here's the custom, which uses the Kingdom Blackarachnia mold as a base and borrows the Buzzworthy Blackarachnia head:
[Image: A wide photograph of the aforementioned custom. She is much more shapely than the original mold but has the same basic color layout. Instead of a green visor, she has two separate green eyes and also sports a set of silver pedipalps.]
[Image: A closeup photograph of the same custom. She is posed to better show off her crossbow.]
I wasn't sure how to interpret the barely-visible green joints from the original toy, especially since the updated mold doesn't have the same kind of stalk-like joints, so I didn't bother about it. I also didn't notice that the head was redecoed at all and so didn't realize the colors for her mouthparts need changed. Not that I would've done that anyway since, again, I'm only using this head temporarily. I did repaint her "hourglass" yellow like the Horrorcon deco but it's just messy enough that I didn't feel like snapping a pic yet, lol.
