As expected, Israel carpet-bombed Rafah while the Oscars were going on as a distraction. And to "celebtrate" the first night of Ramadan, of course. Savages.
I'm really disappointed that I didn't make it to any protests this weekend. I've gotten so used to news about these things coming across my timeline on Twitter that I didn't even think for most of the time to look anything up proactively. I also forgot when the Oscars actually were-- I thought they were a later thing-- so by the time I did look into any protests centered around them, the order to disperse had already been given and I wasn't sure how to navigate that. I also, I admit, punked out of digging deeper because I was nervous of trying to find my way around a demonstration in an area I'm not familiar with, especially with my cousin and his wife-- both older, both some degree of disabled-- waiting for me to get back so they could let me in.
Not trying to make excuses, mind, just to explain where I tripped myself up.
As a reminder, there is
a spreadsheet of fundraisers for Gazans seeking to evacuate. Even if you can't contribute, please share.
