Interesting piece in Slate about the
United Nations Detention Center. Prison psychology is interesting enough, but substitute lumpy and well-educated old men who have killed too many people, it seems, to comprehend it themselves, give them comfortable accommodations, and you get... Indicted War Criminal Volleyball.
I have to hand it to the security officials in these facilities, such as the one quoted in the piece. To have any desire to give these individuals comfort while they await justice takes an old soul. I don't know what I would be inspired to do in malicious toying or sheer wrath if I encountered a mass murderer. Then again, not many people know that for sure.
