Smallville. Sacrifice.
I don't have much to say at this point. I'm waiting for the finale, because my reaction to the last few episodes will depend on how that plays out.
I love
latxcvi's post
here.
And I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that
seeyaroundsv is right and it will all play out
like this.
I can see them going in that direction, it makes sense to me and I thought of it before. But I just don't have any faith left in TPTB at this point, so I'm sticking with "be prepared for the worst" attitude.
Doctor Who
I really enjoyed the two parter with the
Weeping Angels.
I found them absolutely terrifying in the first part. Especially when one came out of the tv.
But in second part they showed them a bit too much, so they got a lot less scary.
Though I still found the part where Amy had to walk through the forest, filled with them, with her eyes closed extremely chilling. Yikes, can you imagine it?
Speaking of
Amy, lets get the big one out of the way right away.
I
hate romance on this show. So when she jumped him, I do not know who freaked more - Eleven on me. I ended up squeaking "my eyes! my eyes! make them stop!" lol
And I love that Eleven was outraged because:
- she's human!
- he's so much older than her.
- she's getting married!
- she's Amy! Ha ha, I do think he still sees her as that little girl (and that's why he keeps calling her Amelia when things turn really serious), and this completely weirded him out. Bless.
But being as Moffat seems to be "fixing" everything I had a problem with during RTD era, I'm willing to wait until the end of the season. Because I do hope they'll show that not only would the Doctor not want a relationship with one of his companions, but also why a romance between the Doctor and a companion is a terrible idea to begin with. Also, I'd love to see Amy wise up and figure out that normal human guys can be just as good as our Time Lord, and pick Rory. Or, you know - at least dump him, if she has no interest in him. Because it's really not fair to him.
I'm all for casual sex, no insufferable unrequited love storylines needed. But come on The Moff, at least make them single!
And what is up with the Doctor always putting Rory down? It's always "the good looking one" and then as an afterthought "the other one". Oi! You shallow bastard, what was with the gibe about his nose? Need I remind you of ear jokes at your expense two regenerations ago?! Rory seems like a nice guy, stop it!
Eleven continues to rock my world.
I have to mention that this is also the first Doctor I find scary.
He just has such a temper and his rage outbursts are really interesting to watch. I find him so unlike Nine and Ten. I mean, when he snapped and started yelling at River, and not once, but twice. "Like. ME. For instance!" O_o Dude, you're 900+, you should be able to keep a calm head in tense situations by now.
Not that I mind, I just find it a bit unnerving, is all.
And I love that he's both mean and funny. All the jokes to angel Bob about "How's life? Sooorry. Baaad subject." LMAO Evil.
And bad puns will never get old for me. "I think they forgot the
gravity of the situation." Ha ha.
Bonus point for another Star Trek shout out - Eleven sitting in the captain's chair a la Kirk! Ha ha.
I also loved the boyish glee at "I made him say comfy chairs!"
Such a mix of opposites, our Eleven.
Favourite scenes:
Eleven and father Octavian, when he had to leave him. I just loved that whole scene. From Eleven's face, and tears in his eyes, how he knew that there's no other way out. To "I wish I known you better" delivery. It was really nice, quiet and powerful.
Eleven and River, final scene.
I love that she owns up that she killed someone, but couldn't tell him more. I love that he suspects it might be him.
If she did kill him, or whomever it was, it felt more like it was something she had to do, "for the greater good" kind of thing. That's my read of the scene anyway.
I especially loved the goodbye.
"I'll see you there."
"I look forward to it."
"I remember it well."
Hee!
It was such a tender moment between the two, with the little smiles, I just love how they parted ways this time. :)
Also, the whole "That's fairytale." "Aren't we all?" once again puts an emphasis on fairytales.
Or it could play into Amelia being a good name, "like out of a fairytale."
Which bring me to my favourite scene #3.
The one between Eleven and Amy.
Or
Future!Eleven and Amy. Since that obviously wasn't Eleven that just left her in the woods.
So I guess this also puts into question that scene with little Amelia in 5x01, when she looks up happy after hearing the TARDIS. It could very well be that Eleven returned and told her something. Something important. Something she has to remember, according to him in 5x05.
With the whole cracks in the universe storyline, and 'you get sucked in and it's like you never existed', and hinted - 'they need a big time even to close the crack, someone like me'. What are the chances that Eleven might end up closing the crack in finale? But before he does that he could go back to little Amy and leave instructions how to bring him back/save him? Because she knows him almost her whole life (like they said in 5x01 confidential - she knows Eleven better and longer than he knows himself) and she'll remember him now that she's a time traveler.
"Remember what I told you when you were 7?"
"What did you tell me?"
"No. That's the whole point. You have to remember."
(made possible by "time can be rewritten")
He's erased from existence. So she *has* to remember.
Here's the part where I go back to my crazy
Amy & River speculations. I'm continuing on my previous post (which is
here).
After this two episodes it's clear that Amy and River are not the same person. River touched Amy when she gave her that injection in 5x04, and if we go by the events of Father's Day, if they were the same person things would have gone really bad.
But. Adding to their similarities:
Not only are they both fans of flirting with the Doctor, and bright nail polish and long nails.
They also both have the same watch. See:
Amy //
RiverThat's the same watch, right?
So either they are somehow related (and one inherited that watch - it does look old).
Maybe they are the same (human) person, but thanks to the cracks in the universe, they're from two different dimensions, and that is why River touching Amy didn't have any consequences.
Or she could be a Time Lady.
Or they are the same person, but the cracks are responsible for the Reapers not showing up when they touched/crossed their own time line.
Because if the Doctor does end up closing the crack in the finale, and he's erased from the existence. Wouldn't one of the things really needed for someone to even be able to bring him back, thanks to remembering him, be - knowing his name? And that could be what Eleven told little Amy*?
*Little Amy, who actually turns up to be River. And it would explain why she knows his name, and how she was someone he trusted a lot (can't remember the exact quote from Silence in the Library).
So yeah. That would be my "out there" theory.
I really should step away from the shows with time travel. I end up over-thinking it.
