Merlin

Oh how I love this show!

There was not enough Merlin/Arthur in this episode.
But Mr. Isaac sure make up to it. Hello Lancelot, you stud muffin, you. One episode and you're already shippable with three people - Merlin, Arthur and Gwen. Please do come back. :)

Great way to start Lancelot/Arthur friendship. You could really tell Arthur was pleased to find someone so good to be one of the knights.
And oh the crushed look when he realized Lancelot lied. And the rescue, when he let him go! \o/
I get where Uther is coming from, about rules being there for a reason. But I also get Arthur, even though his emotions always end up making his choices for him. They are both right, and that's what makes it so interesting. Granted, emotions will help Arthur become the great king he's destined to be. But they will also be his downfall in the end. So yeah, maybe listening to Uther a bit more wouldn't hurt. He sounds cold and cruel, but he is always acting in Arthur's and Camelot's best interest.
That said, I'm more than happy that Arthur let Lancelot go. And it was great to see Lancelot so determined to go and help, and fight by Arthur's side, his well being be damned. They don't need to make him a knight, his actions already prove he is one. :)
And he knows Merlin's secret! That was a nice little twist.
Poor Merlin, still struggling with magic. I like that they are not making him this whiz kid from the start, but that we're seeing how he has to work for it, and learn how to use it. Though getting his magic to work before the absolute last second would come in handy. *g*

Awesome scenes:
1) Celebration party! Hee, cute was that whole scene?
2) "You know Arthur?" "*beams* Oh yes!" lmao
3) If they decide that every episode from now on needs Arthur engaging in a combat using a stick I'd be perfectly fine with that. Just sayin'. Bring on more basic training!
4) Show! You're doing it on purpose! Merlin and Lancelot slept in the same room. That tiny room with one small bed.
They are doing this on purpose!
5) "And I need...Camelot needs." \o/

Foreshadowing wasn't even subtle in this episode! lol Is that Smallville's influence? *g*
1) "So come on. Just for the sake of argument, if you had to: Arthur or Lancelot?"
lmao!!
I actually *palmfaced* and yelled "oh no they didn't!" Then I giggled. A lot.
Nice nod to the legend.
And nice slash undertones, because hello - Merlin is so fanboying over two boys with swords and can't decide which one is cooler. *g*
2) "How can you trust a man who has lied to you?" Uther asks Arthur.
Heh. We'll see when Arthur learns about Merlin's secret.
3) Gaius and his "Merlin, you are the only thing I care about in all this world. I would give my life for you without a thought."
I don't like the sound of this. This is what that scene makes me see:
They find out someone in Camelot is using magic. Even if they figure out it was used for good, Uther is all "the rules are there for a reason" and wants to kill that person. They capture or suspect Merlin. Gaius comes forward and says he's the one who used magic, and ends up sacrificing himself to save Merlin.
Y/Y?

Some fics I read and really enjoyed:

Not a Prince, Not Yet a King by elandrialore
Baby Steps by cordeliadelayne
Unknown Side Effect by elandrialore

All in all, a really good way to start a day after yet another headache filled day yesterday.
I swear, they are becoming more and more frequent, it's starting to be really frustrating.

And a really useless tidbit, but I can't seem to type "more", I *always* end up typing "mroe". Annoying.
