it's raining, again. :) grey and pretty, yay <3
had postgrad orientation yesterday, which was pretty good. i didn't have a clue who most of the non-Anthro lecturers were, so it was nice to have everyone introduce themselves and rant about things they like ranting about. :P
Am much less scared of my honours year now; while it still seems that the readings will kill me (634 page course reader for ONE of my two lecture courses this semester? and the other one is likely to be of similar size. oi.), i'm much less scared of the research project, which seems to be more about whether you can put together theory and practiacal work and produce a cohesive piece of writng at the end, and less about how awesome you are at researching. which is fine with me, really. looks like i'm going tobe holiday-less for another year, the timetable of due dates etc they gave us for the research seems to have breaks in lectures as times to do key pieces of writing, such as the literature review (mid-term break), or the practical research (mid-year break). goody. not that i was really expecting t have a holiday anyway, i'm not sure i've had a proper one in years now. even this week has been all about uni - paying for regalia tuesday, organising seating for graduation, finding a ball dress, orientation, course readers, doing basic readings for my research... yeah. i can't pretend not to love it though, really. and i have be able to sleep in several days, and i plan on doing bupkiss tomorrow other than knitting (have to finish Dave's Jayne hat!!) and watching flight of the conchords and assorted other things i'm behind on. (CAN ATTACK!!)
oh. and i love my dad. he sent me $300 to sort out graduation/ball stuff - i'd already asked if he could buy my dress as a graduation gift, because i've never had a proper ball dress and would never be able to afford one otherwise. so am spending $170 on a Misery "sailor dress" in black, and a friend is going to take the skirt up for me if needed (damn you shortness!!!). griped a bit about how much dad sent me - i hate taking money from him, especially as he's had to cut back on his mid year holiday to Russia - but i've done a bit of math and the rest will pay for my ball ticket ($75) regalia ($45) and my shoes... so isn't really much after all. but is very welcome. <3
what else has been going on... not a lot really. i do however need another cup of tea, and then to go to uni and pick up my theory course reader. *shudder*
ciao bunnies, sorry for the rambly updates <3
