"Your hair is twice as big as your head!"

"I think I lost my pen in your hair!"

I didn't turn around. So I had curly, frizzy hair, that was completely unmanageable. For my whole ten years of life, kids and sometimes even adults, had picked on me about my hair.

And that's when I felt someone touching my head. I flinched at first, but then realized the hands were gentle. It was the quiet girl who sat behind me. She was braiding my hair down my back. She braided it until she came to the end where she knotted it with a yellow ribbon.

Suddenly, my hair was no longer bigger than my head. It no longer frizzed past my ears. It stayed one place. I turned around to smile at her, and she smiled back. I knew I had made a friend.
