Summary: Charis calms Bryony after a nightmare
Charis woke to a shrill cry, and crawled out of bed with a long sigh. She wrapped herself in a warm robe and made her way to her little sister's room, as was the routine just about every other night recently. She was yawning when she peered through the crack in the door and saw Bryony seated on the bed with her hands to her face, wiping at her tears.
Charis walked inside. "Don't cry, dear. It was only a dream."
"But it seemed so real," Bryony said, still wiping at her tears. "It was so scary. There was a man at my window, clawing to get in."
"But men don't have claws!" Charis sat down beside her on the bed. "Which proves that it wasn't real. Besides, if it were real, where is the man, now?"
Bryony looked toward the window and blinked through her tears. She sniffed. "I don't know. He's not there."
"See?" Charis said. "No one's there. It was a nightmare. That's all."
Bryony cuddled up against Charis' side. "Will you stay here tonight? Please, Charis? I won't be able to fall asleep if you don't."
Charis thought about it. Her own bed seemed a lot more comfortable than laying cramped up aside a six year old. "I don't know..."
"Oh please!" Bryony cried.
"Shh! And okay, if you wish!"
Bryony's tears suddenly dried up and she pulled at the covers so Charis could slip in. "Oh, thank you, Charis! Thank you!"
"You're welcome," Charis said and sighed.
