"Okay, do you have down what you're gonna say?" Aaron looked up at his running mate squarely in the eyes. She looked a little scared. He wanted to be sure she was going to do okay. "Do you?"
Colette's hands were shaking a little and the paper she was holding made a little rumpling sound. "I-I think so. I mean, it says right here what I'm supposed to say, right?"
"Right." Aaron smiled. "Just sound natural. Do you want to go over it again?" He looked up at the clock in the office. "Do we have time? I guess not. Well, I'm sure it'll be okay."
She smiled and nodded. "I'm ready."
"Okay, it's just about time. I'm gonna press the live button, and I'll start first."
She nodded with wide eyes.
Aaron pressed the red button and then began to read off his sheet. "Hey, Kennedy High! This is Aaron Dartmouth and Colette Martins here. We're running for President and Vice President of your student counsel and have a few things to say." He pointed to Colette.
She took in a breath. "We stand for out of uniform days, lunch off campus, and late start days, so a vote for us is a vote for fun! Just remember to vote for Aaron and Colette!"
"Thanks, everyone," Aaron said. He went to hit the button to cut them off air, but his finger slipped.
"And whatever you do, don't vote for those other losers, right?" Colette said, laughing.
Aaron quickly hit the button. "What are you doing?" he said. "That was on air!"
Colette put her hands over her mouth in horror. "No!" she said in a squeaky voice. "Oh no!"
