Summary: Nick reflects on his father's death.

The air was cool against his face even though the sun was warm. It was a perfect spring day, and Nick could smell it in the air. He wanted to smile and enjoy it, but deep down in the pit of his stomach, he was reminded that it wouldn't be the same this year.

Behind him, he heard the door to the mortuary close, but he didn't turn around.

"What are you doing out here by yourself?" Reed asked.

Nick still didn't turn around. "Getting some air."

"Oh. Well, when you're done, I have some papers for you to go over."

Nick heard the door close again, and then it was quiet. He didn't think things would ever really be right again. "I don’t see how anything will," he muttered to no one.

Summary: Kyle's been ditched in Chicago.

Six hours and thirty minutes. Four hundred miles. Kyle was stuck in Chicago, by himself, at a crappy motel, and he had a total of twenty dollars and fifty-two cents in his wallet. He’d really gotten himself into trouble this time.

He opened the dingy curtains and cringed at the white sky before closing them again and sighing at the darkness. It hadn't really been his fault. How was he supposed to know that his dingbat friend, Chris, would ditch him once they got there and decide to stay?

Now he was stuck. He had no money and no way back to St Paul. All he could was call his brother and pray to God he would save his ass. If Justin wouldn't come get him, he would have to call Nicki and beg for money for a bus ticket home, and he didn't want to do that.

With a sigh, Kyle picked up his cell phone. "Please..." he muttered while the phone rang.
