There was a loud crash and a couple of surprised cries for someone to get a grip, coming from the west wing of the manor. The parlor's closed door did nothing to muffle out the overlapping voices as it was clear that one of the male's in the room was unbelievably angry.
"What the hell do you mean she's not here!?" He shouted again, for what seemed to be the only line he knew how to sing the past few weeks.
"Ah, Gamma-bro! P-please calm down," came the voice of a much younger male. Teenager, perhaps. His plea coming from somewhere behind a large couch.
"Gamma-bro. She slipped past us when we left to grab something to eat while she was asleep," the deep voice of another interjected before Gamma could retort with how he was perfectly calm; despite the throbbing vein at his temple. They knew he wasn't angry with them, but more than a little annoyed with her sneaking off again without an escort. The room, for the most part, was left unharmed by the right hand man's rage; all except of course the pool table. That was the fourth one this month and if he destroyed another one Aria said there would be no money left for food. So, he's also inwardly cursing at that too. The other two exchange looks that clearly read how the other overreacts sometimes.
The blond male sighs shakily, bringing a strong hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose almost as if trying to stop a headache from forming. When he was sure his voice would come out in that smooth, tranquil tone that was laced with doom, Gamma asked, "How long ago?"
"A-about an hour ago, Gamma-bro..." Nosaru's voice cracked nervously as he ran quickly behind Tazaru; the man made a great shield in case anything else exploded.
"... And you only came to me now?! Why aren't you out there looking for her!" Again, he shouted and something else was turned to splinters. A cue stick. He cursed again and stomped his way out of the room, making for the front door. Apparently Aria needed another one of Gamma's lectures on safety and so on he thought as he grabbed the car keys, but when he opened the door, she was walking up the path to him.
"Going somewhere, Gamma?" She said with a warm smile that held all the innocence of someone who had not just spent an hour away from home and it seemed to distract Gamma from is rage for a moment. He shook his head ignoring the flutter in his stomach and how she was able to do that countless times and he was still not used to it. With a serious and very business-like face he walks out to meet her.
"Boss, you need to tell us where you're going. You can't just leave like that. What if something happened to you?" He pauses here to breathe, so that he can continue with some possibly horrible scenarios that could happen to her without an escort around to assure her safety--But she stops him with one raised hand.
"Honestly, Gamma, you're going to get sick if you continue to worry that much. I was here the entire time... Out by the stables actually." A small lie, but it wasn't like she had any plans on telling him exactly where she was, at least not today.
He arches a brow giving her a look that said he didn't believe that. "Oh, by the stables. What were you doing?" For one, he knew there was nothing there because the horses were off with a few of the men since yesterday.
Grinning, hiding any inner panic at the possibility of being caught in her fib, she responds with confidence as she walks around him to get inside. "Nothing really, just enjoying the view from that end of the grounds." And she walks inside, greeting Nosaru and Tazaru, both of which had been eavesdropping behind the large plant near the entrance.
Nothing more was said between them the rest of the day as Gamma sulked over trying to figure out where she was and how he didn't have a working pool table anymore. Aria on the other hand was in high spirits the more he sulked. Her plan, was going accordingly~.
The next morning, Gamma came up with the genius idea of trailing after her himself. He was up before everyone else and more importantly before her, so he knew that there was no way she could get around him. At least not while he was so prepared. The cars all had enough fuel, he wore comfortable shoes in case he had to follow her for some time. Over all he was ready for almost anything today.
Almost anything, as Aria had so cleverly foiled his plans by staying indoors the entire day. She claimed to have a lot of work to do and really, who was he to argue over whether or not his boss had work to do? The day was much too long in Gamma's mind, everyone else was moving at their own pace and he was sitting, waiting for his boss to leave so he could follow. Lunch came around and still Aria stayed in his line of vision the entire time. Dinner time and still nothing. She ate, laughed, told jokes with her Family, and definitely made no move to leave. If he didn't know any better he would think her actions were even more suspicious, but shaking the thought out of his mind as paranoia, he started to relax.
With everyone in their rooms getting ready to sleep, Gamma left his own room in order to lock the doors. Last minute security and all. But upon reaching the front door, Aria was making her way in.
"Boss?" He said mildly confused. She was suppose to be upstairs already...
"Ah-haha, Gamma. Hi," her obvious surprise to seeing him there only made him narrow his eyes.
"What are you doing?"
"I just stepped out for a bit of fresh air," Aria explained while walking past him.
"...."
He really didn't know what to say, maybe she was telling the truth? Still, there was a sneaking suspicion that his boss had not been here the entire time. If that was true, then there really was only one person to blame. The more that he thought on it, the more he realized that he had not seen Genkishi at all that day.
Due to walking up at an ungodly hour yesterday, Gamma wasn't able to wake up in time to try again. He stormed out of his room around noon and was completely focused on finding Genkishi to get an answer to last nights hunch.
Except there was no one around. The entire manor was empty and before Gamma could think something bad happened, he found a note telling him to get dressed, formally, and go to some restaurant nearby. He frowned, contemplating just going over there as he was- jeans and fitting shirt, but he noticed the writing was from Aria and ran up to quickly change.
About an hour later he reached the place and was taken to a table by the host with instructions to keep him there as his party was running late. He didn't seem to mind as he was curious to what that woman was planning now. Gamma ignored the way his stomach clenched at the thought of being here with her alone, like a date... He almost smiled at the thought and any of the anger that seemed to be the only emotion he could feel this month was slowly ebbing away...
He waited for a good hour before getting restless, but the waiter had told him to wait and so, he was going to. She wouldn't stand him up, right?
Two more hours. She stood him up.
He sighed in frustration as he stood up and made to leave the restaurant, but on his way out he was handed another note from the man that had been keeping him there. More instructions as it told him to go back home because she wouldn't have time to meet him there. Crushing the paper in his hand, he threw it to the side and went to his car to drive back home. His was going to give her an ear full this time and no smile was going to keep him from doing so.
Again, those were his plans as Aria had shot them down again.
It didn't take him long to reach the manor and when he stepped out of the parked car, there she was, standing in absolute magnificence that he was stopped for words and breath. She looked incredible and he was seriously dumbfounded by it.
"Gamma, I'm sorry I couldn't meet you," she told him calmly when he didn't speak. Aria was inwardly thankful for being a few feet away from him and for the slowly setting sun as her cheeks tinted lightly by how he was staring at her.
"... D-don't worry about it," he managed as it was his turn to walk past her. She stopped him though, a hand reaching out to grasp his arm firmly. He stilled, his head turning to look down at her with a questioning look.
"Are you angry with me?" It was a simple enough question that Gamma, without her being around, would have answered 'yes,' but seeing as she was there and the one asking him. Gamma gave a slight shake of his head, running his free hand through his golden tresses and sighed.
"No, but you really shouldn't leave without telling one of us where you're going," he spoke low, almost whispering as the one person he meant was him. Aria knew and was unable to keep a grin from her face. She tilted her head to the side, curled hair bouncing lightly, blue irises seemed to sparkle as they caught the remaining rays of a setting sun. Her cocktail dress making a soft rustling sound as she stepped in front of him, arms wrapping around his torso as she whispered:
"Happy birthday Gamma." She stepped away and almost as if on cue at that, fireworks set off and the cheering of a crowd broke through the silence. His face held every possible range of shock, surprise and more as he stared completely speechless.
"We got him, Tazaru-bro! Look at his face!" Came the joyous voice of Nosaru as he began clicking a camera to catch Gamma's look for future memories and definite teasing.
"Boss's plans always work out for the best," Tazaru said with certainty while wrapping an arm around Gamma's shoulder and smiling for the camera. More flashes of white as people came to wish him happy birthday, and though he was no longer frozen to the spot, he was still in a sort of daze at everything going on.
"That's only because Gamma is easy to fool," a male to the left of them spoke up. Gamma would have frowned, but even he couldn't say anything in his defense as they had managed to trick him. For a whole month even! The presence of the other didn't deter him from laughing and finally allowing himself to enjoy the party.
The Giglio Nero boss beamed with satisfaction at her right hand's reaction to everything. She knew it would work out, but to see the ending result of a carefully laid plan, the woman could not help but smile wider. Days like this wouldn't last, she knew this well, but there was no problem in making them memorable for everyone. And she knew that today Gamma, Nosaru, Tazaru and even Genkishi, would think of it as one of their happiest recollections yet of their family being together.
