I've not been heavily spammed via Friendster.com, but I got a message notice today from yet another attractive young woman who's
"really interested", but doesn't use Friendster as her "main account", so I should contact her at ...
Anyway, I felt sorry for Friendster at first, watching their site being pulled down by spam, when I noticed a small detail. My opinion instantly changed: Friednster reported that this girl was in my expanded network, but when I tried to find out how this spammer was connected to me, Friendster suddenly reported that she was not in my expanded network.
In other words, the site falsely confirmed that a spammer with no connection to me at all had a real connection, which had the desired effect of misleading me into wondering how I was connected to this person, tricking me with a false authentication. When queried about specifics, Friendster admitted the lack of connection.
I guess I'm wondering if anyone actually uses Friendster, or is it pretty much spam only ...
