Ok, many of you may recall from a previous post that I was supposed to go to Austin on Friday night. That, however, would not end up happening for me. You see, the whole point behind the trip was to take two of Deb's friends from Iowa down to Sixth Street. Unfortunately, they got into Dallas too late for them to get to Killeen, get ready, and get to Austin at a decent time. Therefore, we had no choice but to postpone the trip. In the meantime, Ryan, Tim, and I were left with nothing to do on a Friday night. While we were spit-balling ideas for something to do, we somehow managed to come up with the idea to have a cookout at our house on the following day, before we left for Austin. If I may say so myself, it was a pretty fantastic idea.
So, now we had the task of preparing for the cookout to keep us occupied. And keep us occupied it did. We stayed up till 0400 cleaning, drinking, and building our totally kickass and sweet beerpong table. Really, especially towards the end of the night, there was more drinking than anything. So we went to bed, half-lit, half-done, and totally excited about our cook out.
We would have to call six hours of sleep enough, because we still had several things to do. Our garage was full of boxes and building supplies that would need to be taken to the dump, the house, though already very tidy, needed a thorough scrubbing, and the food would need to start getting prepared. Obvioulsy, this is nothing the three of us, working as a well oiled machine couldn't handle, and the results were well worth the preparation.
Everyone who came was treated to great food (I cooked a ton of steaks, salmon and potatoes, to rave reviews, and not a bite was left over) They were also treated to the inaugural use of the new Beer Pong Table. Ryan and Fred did well, James and Tim also were sweeping, even Deb's friends did real well for beginners, unfortunately, my partner and I were not feeling our game, and didn't win once. Last, but not least, to beat the heat, and keep the kids, both young and old, entertained, we put out two kiddie pools, and the Slip n' Slide. Just so you know, 3 bottles of Crisco will make you slide much better, but it does tend to sting the eyes, and is not that great for your lawn. Despite all odds, I think we only had two minor injuries. The first being me who managed to slide a bit too far and slip under one of the pegs of a fire hydrant, which kinda scratched up my back. Then Carnes, who also slid too far and took a telephone post to the shoulder. Its all good though. After people started leaving to get ready, we had the fun task of cycling me, Ryan, Mark, Tim, James, and Ryan 3 through the shower since we were all covered in grass and Crisco, while at the same time cleaning up the house. An hour later, we were mission complete, with the house back in order and all the young men cleaned and looking totally hot for all the ladies of Austin.
Once everyone was back together we took off for Austin, which became a slow process, since somehow, Tim managed to get totally shitfaced between the shower and the car, and we had to pull over to let him puke every little while. Eventually though, we got down to Austin and checked into the hotel. We could now begin bar hopping, and that's exactly what we did. Everyplace was packed since its graduation weekend down there, so usually we would spend more time trying to get up to the bar to get our drinks than we spend drinking them. By the way, I'd like to throw out a big BOO to Cheers, for not blowing the fire on the flaming Dr. Peppers. I also learned an important lesson, not only does taking shots make it easier to talk to girls, talking to girls ended up making it easier for me to do my shots. All in all, I was milked by one girl, completely blown off by another, and tolerated by a third, but I think Carey and James ruined that one for me with there 20 minuted rant to her on how cute I was.
That brings me to the worst part of the night. While I was at the bar talking to this girl, I had about half a Guinness left, and they called last call. So quickly, I ordered her a new beer, me a new beer to drink after I was done with mine, and the two of us some Jager Bombs. I finished my original beer, we did the Jagers, and I started on my last Guinness. Unbeknownst to me, Fred bought all of us a round of Guinness, which came out to like 20. So now I had two in front of me. And my little female companion, who was also hooked up, didn't drink Guinness, so now I had three in front of me. I finished mine, made a valiant effort on the one that was bought for me(kept the glass), and decided it would be a "good idea" to take the last one with me. Fred already got kicked out, and as I was walking out with a beer under my shirt, Kennedy was in the process of pissing off the bouncer, who decided to push Kennedy, who hit me and I spilled some of the beer. Not wanting to get caught, I headed out the door real quick and decided to down the beer. I didn't make it. Half way through, there was no room left in the stomach, and I went ahead made some room right there on the sidewalk. I got voted "Best Puke" It was pretty colorful.
We headed back to our hotel, and had relatively little commotion. The worst part was the arguments over sleeping arangements. Since I slept in a chair last time, without a pillow, blanket, or anything, I took a pillow and some bed for myself. Its interesting fitting 12 people in a small hotel room and getting them comfortable. But hey, that's half the fun. Finally the big day was over at about 0500, as we all drifted off into our alcohol induced slumber.
1000 today, we were checked out of the hotel, and headed home. That pretty much brings me up to now. I'm laying here in my bed, in a pair of hospital pants, James on the floor beside me asleep, updating you all on the debauchery. It was fun, and I REALLY can't wait to hit up South Padre next weekend. THAT'S going to be fun. In the meantime, I'm gonna have to not drink between now and then. I can't even think about it right now. Well, that's it. It's been swell, but the swelling's gone down now, so I'M OUT!
