Things are going well these days! This past week we spent a lot of time outside in parks and festivals with J and I have to say that this boy loves going places and is not afraid of anything. We went to the Renaissance Faire on Sunday and had a great time. We now know that J likes horses (real ones that are big and scary), fireworks, lemonade, funnel cake, kettle corn, bagpipes, crowds of people, adult humans dressed quite convincingly as foxes, singing pirates, storm troopers, jousting knights, glo-sticks and various other nerdy festival occurrences.
I am taking a sewing class on Monday nights. This is great for several reasons:
1) I am learning something new that I am good at
2) It is fun and will save me money
3) It gets me out of the house
4) It makes Del do the whole after school to bedtime routine alone, which he is doing excellent at and provides the possibility for me to be able to do more things out of the house in the future
5) I am trying to be social with new people
The only downside is how incredibly socially awkward I feel and how everyone else sits around and talks about how cute that purse is and what they are going to make their skirt out of while I try to find a project that won't make me barf. I dug up a messenger bag project for next week but seriously there is so much talk of clutches and tote bags and butterflies and little dainty doilies that I feel like I am from another planet. Well that and I can't at all participate in the talk about current movies/music/local events that happen after 7 pm. I mean, this IS my local event that happens after 7. There is one other lady in there with small children who identifies with this though, so there is that. I've made 2 pillows, a little bag and learned how to sew a zipper so far. E is in the class too, so that is nice.
We've done a bit of weening. J now gets 1.5 oz breastmilk and 3.5 oz whole cows milk in each bottle. I feel like the nightime nursing is lessened as well. He won't take pure whole milk yet though - I'm still working on that. The lessened nursing is nice though. I still get to nurse and he gets the good stuff but I don't have to pump a hundred times a day and I can actually run a few errands at lunch time. Oh yeah, and eat.
I am just now realizing the changes he is going to go through over the holidays. Traveling, being out of school, being away from his mommy (especially at night), and then probably coming back to school and entering a different classroom. We'll see how it goes.
He is getting about 4 more teeth in all at once right now too. Poor kid.
We were thinking about selling our house and moving but now we aren't anymore because the best thing around that would be for sale in our price range would be our own house. So next year we might be building a bathroom.
I can't think of much else to update on. It's all boring crap like we got a new carseat and I'm picking up some freelance. Meh - who cares?
