it is starting

My water broke this morning. It was a slow leak and at first I thought it was just pee but I went in to get checked and it was totally amniotic fluid. I'm in the hospital now being monitored but there are no other signs of labor. They are giving me antibiotics because they don't know about my strep group b status. When my test results get back they will take me off of them. Otherwise they are being very hands off. I had one internal exam while they were checking for amniotic fluid and they don't want to do any more. They are in 'wait and see' mode and want to just monitor externally until labor starts happening. My doc is not on call, but I really like the guy who is. Mostly it is just boring. They are keeping me in the hospital until it is baby time, which could be tomorrow or could be in two weeks. Their goal and hope is to keep it in the oven as long as possible. We're facing a possible NICU admission but it doesn't sound like they are too concerned and say that 34 weeks is usually just fine. I'm 34 and a half. They have wireless here,so that is good. I'll be in touch. I did get to go to a great lactation class earlier this week, so that is a plus.

Now is probably a good time to start guessing boy or girl!
