SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Here's the first thing you need to know about the current state of your destiny: "Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night." That message comes to you from poet Rainer Maria Rilke. Here's the second piece of wisdom you should take with you everywhere you go. It's from Vladimir Nabokov: "For aren't you and I gods? Let all of life be an unfettered howl. Release life's rapture. Everything is blooming. Everything is flying. Everything is screaming. Laughter. Running.
Rob Brezsny I don't quite feel like running while letting off an unfettered howl. But I do feel better today than I have all week. My strength is steadily (if a bit slowly) returning. I have done yoga three days this week. Yesterday I even got back up on the elliptical trainer. I need to resume my cardio workout; I have already gained back two of the three pounds I keep losing and gaining, losing and gaining.
At least I'm doing yoga and keeping stretched. That has kept me from getting the aches in my sacrum, hips, and legs that can come from inactivity and the slouching I tend to do when resting on the couch. I'm quite pleased with myself for recognizing my problem areas and maintaining enough yoga (even if the easiest and gentlest of poses) to keep them free from discomfort. I have also made twists a priority, as those should help move lymph to cleanse the blood.
I just found a web page that suggests
yoga asanas for colds and boosting immunity. It suggests chest openers like Cobra and Fish, inversions such as shoulderstand and plow, hip openers like bound angle and pigeon, and twists. I can make sure to do some of those. With my head congestion, I haven't felt like doing inversions, but I guess I could add them back now that I'm not drowning.
