Brain dump
1. A vacation trip to Myrtle Beach may be in the works for late August or early September. Man, do I need a vacation!
2. Nothing too unusual about being passed on the highway by a motorcycle weaving between cars, driving like a maniac without a helmet. What was unusual was that the driver was a woman.
3. Yesterday was cooking day. I made a tomato and cucumber salad, roasted eggplant, and pasta. I also made a MESS in the kitchen. Sadly I realized too late that I'm out of dish detergent and forgot to buy more.
4. Yesterday was also CSA veggie pickup day. We got corn, cabbage, eggplant, green beans, basil, fennel (hi Rob), onions, and heirloom tomatoes. One tomato was HUGE and kind of green looking. I was hoping to make fried green tomatoes (or tomato, in this case), but found I was out of corn meal. So that will have to wait until Thursday.
5. I've been hearing this sound like a helicopter overhead for most of the day. I've been trying to figure out what's going on that would attract helicopters. It finally dawned on me that it's probably noise from construction in the adjacent building. Mystery solved. That's good, because I was starting to get that old x-files paranoid feeling.
