I found out last week (or the week before? I'm late in posting about this) that two of my TV shows have been canceled: Judging Amy and Joan of Arcadia. I'm not sad at all about the cancellation of Judging Amy. That's a show that I don't want to watch but haven't been able to stop. Amy's personality is annoying, the plots seem contrived, and it's on a bit too late for a weeknight, but I can't stop watching it. Now I'm finally safe.
Joan of Arcadia, though, I will miss terribly. The first season was really good. The acting is top-notch, the romance between Joan and Adam was sweet, and the premise was very promising. There was a lot they could have done with the show. The writing really lagged during this past second season, though, and the ratings reflected it. I'm not surprised it was pulled. If only the creative spark had lasted another season....
Unless a new show comes along next fall, I will be pulling further away from TV. I'll watch a L&O or CSI if it's on, or the occasional Crossing Jordan if Nigel is featured, but I don't plan for those shows. I have been enjoying Numbers on Friday nights, so I will probably continue to watch that. But I will be missing Joan.
