Science Question

Jan 19, 2009 07:10

I've always wondered this, and never quite figured it out, and a simple google search didn't give me an answer so I pose the question to you.

If December 21st is the shortest day (for us Northerners) why is it so goddamn cold in February? It seems like January 21st should be more or less like November 21st and February 21st should be more like September 21st. But of course February 21st is like there hasn't been a Sun in the sky for three years. Why is it that the day with the least Sun, and with the Sun at its lowest angle in the sky, is pretty much at the beginning of the col period and not in the middle?
