So I was at work the other day and this customer came in and saw me reading a book and asked what it was about; I told her and she thought it was cool I was reading something on cinema history.
She then asked my boss why Fossil used the year 1954 on their logos and such. my boss told her that it was because 1954 was a "perfect year" and nothing happened then, whch of course being the dick I am explained how that was wrong.
The lady was socked on what little knowledge of history I displayed to her and she then asked if I was in school for it.
I said no, and she said too bad.
I asked why's that, and she proceeded to tell me that I'm wasting my intelligence.
I proceeded to say what good would a history degree do me other than to teach, which she then told me I would make a great college professor.
Again I asked why?
And she told me because of the fact that I do have the will to teach, but if no one wants to listen to me, it's their money they're wasting, not mine.
I was flattered by this but at the same time ruined for the day, because everytime I've tried going back to school, something has happened to derail that prospect.
I would love to go back, but I have no clue what my "calling" is. I have pondered being a teacher, but the thought of teaching kinda scares me and the whole money thing gets in the way too.
It's amazing how someone can call you out and only know you for 5 minutes...
