Why I fucking cant stand the postal service
I was going through the website heavy.com and there is a video of the postal service. They play all that wierd midi type music and I have a soft spot for the cinematography of all the microprocessor fabrication. The one thing though that bothers me is how much this band tricks you into thinking you like them. Like I know deep in my heart that shit stinks even though that kinda style music is awesome when done properly. However I just found myself humming the chorus.....
I feel cheated and violated. The music moves and you think its going to have this wonderful up and its going to have this punch to it that will stick with you, instead it stays just under the radar, because folks, its hip.
this band is a good example of a band that likes to be popular, but not too popular. You know the kind that you hear from word of mouth and from other bands about instead of from MTV or the radio. There are tons of bands that fit into this category, and its good for the reason they do a lot more under thier terms rather then the bitch leash of corperate record fucks (look at nickleback as the latest money wagon).
But what happens when this practically untainted music sucks. It reminds me of slipknot, a lot like it, because thats another band that did everything thrugh word of mouth. It took a long fucking time before any videos surfaced on other then thier website. At first the gimmick works "hay its like cool metal and its brandable" and then your just left with a big salty load in your mouth cuz that fucking cum is about as filling as slipknot when you try and find any real meaning out of it. When you get down to it, its nothing but angst ridden death metal with nicer vocals, big vocabular words, and tunes made for intense live shows.
The Postal Service is just this, but instead its this inviting yet bland emo bullshit to a gimmicky set of instraments.
Its another tool for those fucking anti-war assholes who think they are the hip ones because they think thier pride in being a hopeless romantic wimp who thinks being a tragic artist.....just like everyone else. They have some fucking nerve to complain about shit like bush.....we should draft those assholes and then see how valid they become. I gurantee they will wimp out and give this fake toughness "Ill move to Canada/Mexico/Mars"....ok take your rights for granted lazy fuck.....I really would love it if some vetran busts the fuckers legs with some hard rigid object as they have even more nerve to step back into thier land.
While I am of no politcal party, and I do feel the government made a very immature move to attack iraq just because 9/11 added some paranoid angst to this country, he is following through and doing a very good job in resoring a country, Ill post some links at the end to show the success attained even though there are no WMDs. Idont have a certain side on the whole thing just the truth, and the fact of the matter is a lot of my generation are a bunch of wannabe intellegent assholes who think they can think for themselves only to be just part of another group of automotons.
Sorry for getting side tracked......so in the end TPS is bland and boring, the war in iraq is a success, and noone can think for themselves anymore.
