Aimlessly wandering the vast and quiet halls of the castle, he found himself going over the few pieces of information he had about his current state.
One: He was wearing a Gryffindor Quidditch uniform.
Two: His name was Chanyeol.
Three: He was dead.
He looked down at his nearly transparent hands, then at the opaque red and gold clothes he must have died in. His brows drew together for a moment before his face changed back to its usual expression of mischief.
He was bored and itching for something to do. Someone to bother...
As if on cue, he spotted a couple snogging behind a stone pillar, making a bad attempt at hiding themselves from view. Forcing himself to keep quiet, Chanyeol floated up to the high, arching ceiling and approached the two students (two Raveclaws) with a smirk shifting the features of his face.
Oh, whatever should he do to them?
The translucent boy looked around him, searching for inspiration, while keeping his presence unknown to the lovebirds just below.
Spotting a fat spider building a large web between the wall and the ceiling, Chanyeol smirked and approached it. Quickly taking hold of the incomplete web and tearing it off the stone, he brought spider and web together over the couple and watched as the spider, trying to escape him, extended a strand of web, descending toward the students below.
It took mere moments for the spider to land on the girl’s head and for a shrill scream to echo through the hall. The sound was quickly followed by that of running as the girl and boy hurried away, and a very satisfied and hearty laugh coming from Chanyeol.
Four: He was not merely a ghost, but a poltergeist.
Once he ran out of laughter, the spirit sighed and continued his aimless wandering.
It was Halloween; something of interest had to be going on, somewhere.
Dinner in the great hall had to be coming to an end; maybe he could bother some of the students pouring out.

An hour of pouring buckets of water on unsuspecting witches and wizards as well as tugging at the occasional robe or Halloween costume was still not enough to cure his boredom. Calling out silly insults, and scaring First Years by popping through walls didn’t help either.
Chanyeol found himself floating into the library. He needed someone worthwhile to bother, someone who could hold his attention for more than a few moments.
The library didn't seem the place for finding someone of that sort on this night however, and he should have figured, it being Halloween and all. The students would be in their Common Rooms, enjoying candy, hot drinks, and each other’s company.
He missed the taste of candy...
Or did he?
Chanyeol liked at his lips, trying to see if he was even capable of tasting. He never ate...he didn't have to.
But he couldn’t seem to wrap his mind around the concept of taste in that moment. It’d been years since he’d tasted anything at all, though how many years...he didn’t know, having lost track of time.
Immortality was boring, and Chanyeol was surprised that the other ghosts of the castle hadn't changed into poltergeists and turned to pranks to keep themselves entertained.
Just as he turned to float back out of the library, he caught a glimpse of red and yellow through the large book shelves.
Well well well.
What would a Gryffindor be doing in the library on Halloween?
Why researching for and writing a paper last minute. The boy must have pushed the assignment to the back of his mind, then remembered last minute that it was due the following morning. Otherwise this little Gryffindor would be celebrating in the Common Room with the others; that is...if the Gryffindor stereotype applied to this one.
As he approached, Chanyeol caught sight of a small frame, and messy, yet still appealing, dark brown hair. The boy was hunched over a piece of parchment, and was surrounded by stacks of books.
Drifting down without making a sound, Chanyeol peered over the Gryffindor’s shoulder. The few candles the boy had lit and sitting on the table shone light onto the parchment quite nicely, and Chanyeol quickly read the first few sentences written there. His eyes widened in surprise, and he had to force himself from laughing aloud.
Of all the things this boy could have chosen to write his essay on, he picked poltergeists and how they differ from ghosts, particularly in their ability to move objects with physical force and occasionally being able to take on physical form...
Oh this was just too perfect. Even if he’d been occupied with bothering someone else or with setting up a complex prank at the time, Chanyeol wouldn't have been able to resist the temptation.
Moving up close behind the student, he reached around to wrap his arms around him and press his hands to his chest through his robes. Chanyeol then let his lips brush over the boy’s ear as he whispered, “Would you like some firsthand experience that you can use for your essay?”
The boy of course screamed and would have toppled back with his chair if Chanyeol hadn't been behind him. The poltergeist kept his hold on the boy however, laughing softly into his ear. “Oh come now...” He nipped at the boy’s earlobe, unable to help himself, “It could really help with your argument.”
The Gryffindor turned to look at him, his face pale and eyes wide. “Chanyeol?!” Every student and teacher at Hogwarts knew his name, his being the only poltergeist in the castle, and this boy was no exception.
“Who better to help you than an actual poltergeist, hmm?”
Although he was most certainly toying with the boy, Chanyeol couldn't help noticing just how pretty he was. Dark slanted eyes, that messy hair, flawless skin. His eyes were drawn to the Gryffindor’s lips and he inevitably found himself wondering again if he had the ability to taste...
Strange.
“Wh-what do you want?”
Of course there was apprehension in the student’s voice, Chanyeol was always causing trouble wherever he went. Why would now be no different? Those pretty eyes looked around, trying to see if anyone else was in the library, someone who could save him. But they were alone.
“Tsk. Why I just told you.” Chanyeol motioned to the parchment with his chin, arms still wrapped around the boy.
The Gryffindor looks down at the essay he’d been in the process of writing and blinked a few times. The shock wore off in a moment or two and his jaw dropped when he realized that the poltergeist’s arms were around him and that he could feel them...
He figured that he couldn't get out of this for the time being, so might as well get what he could out of it. Besides, Gryffindors were known for their bravery. He would prove himself a true Gryffindor and go along with the poltergeist for now.
“So...you actually have physical form then?”
“Evidently.”
Chanyeol’s tone was mischievous, matching the grin on his lips.
“And you don’t have only the temporary ability to touch things physically...such as only when you push or throw things.”
“That’s right.”
As the student spoke, the poltergeist’s hands had begun to move up and down his chest, getting a feel for the slender frame beneath the robes and uniform.
“What’s your name?”
Chanyeol wasn't sure what prompted him to ask, but he was curious.
“Baekhyun.”
Their faces were little more than an inch apart, and it would have been hard for the spirit not to notice the flush rising over the boy’s cheeks. Was he enjoying the feel of Chanyeol’s hands and lips on him? Chanyeol was thrown off balance, momentarily forgetting about teasing the boy and rather focusing on his reactions.
Baekhyun’s breathing had increased in speed, as had his heartbeat, and the flush on his cheeks deepened.
Moving on impulse and with the need to know, Chanyeol let one hand drop off Baekhyun’s chest to dip down between the boy’s legs.
Both of them gasped, Chanyeol in surprise and Baekhyun in pleasure, as the poltergeist found the growing arousal there.
He wouldn't have thought it possible if it wasn't happening, but...Chanyeol felt himself being affected by the situation, and his hand moved over the front of Baekhyun’s pants almost out of impulse.
The Gryffindor’s lips had parted, and his eyes had darkened with arousal, “You’re touching me...”
That sweet, breathless voice did him in.
Chanyeol’s lips crashed into Baekhyun’s and he was amazed that he could taste faint hints of...candy corn and butter beer...and a taste that had to be distinctly Baekhyun’s...
to be continued...
