INCEPTION DAY!

Jul 23, 2010 20:26

I was dying to see Inception since it came out last Thursday or better yet, I'm dying to see it since I saw that teaser trailer a few months ago. My mind was simply blown away when I saw the cast. THAT WAS MY DREAM CAST RIGHT THERE! (Leo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy and Ellen Page) The cast was mostly the reason why I wanted to see the film so much.

Circumstances that surrounded me compelled me not to watch the film until today. Last week, when I came home from my sleepover I asked my brother to watch the film with me but he has already seen it. So that was a no go. Then this Saturday, my mom and I did a general cleaning of the house. Then on Sunday, I have to go to the hospital with my mom and she was confined. So for the whole week I have to stay in this hospital to lookout for my mom. The only thing that is keeping me sane is that there is free wifi in this place. Today, I asked my mom if I can watch the film alone since my brother can look after her for now since he doesn't have any classes.

TODAY MARKS THE DAY THAT I WATCHED INCEPTION! Here goes my review...

The film surpassed all my expectations, I was holding back a little bit since I don't want to be disappointed. But when the film started, I said "Here goes nothing!" I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I didn't even eat the chips that I brought with me since I was so excited and the film needed my full concentration. No damn food can distract me.

The cast was superb. Brilliant in every single way. I am familiar with their earlier works so I know they are capable of delivering. They definitely did deliver. I have to commend Marion Cotillard's acting. I was surprised that she can play such a villanous role. I know some people may have hated her character but I love it. She did it so well. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance was amazeballs. I already know that he's a flexible actor (see Mysterious Skin -- he played a gay escort, see Brick -- he played a mysterious geek in search for his girlfriend caught up in drug dealing). This whole macho role suited JGL, I was such a happy fangirl! Another actor who surprised me was Tom Hardy, that fucking accent killed me and he was funny. He was magnificent with his machinery and all. To the rest of the cast, all praises. I love them all. Big ups on having Michael Cane and Talulah Riley in the film. Talk about shipping. Why do I like The Forger/The Point Man and not The Architect/The Point Man?

On to the cinematography. What is fucking mindblowing? The images from this film. From the mirror scene up to the rotating room scene, actually almost everything was wonderful. I'm running out of adjectives to describe how incredible it was. The score was very fitting, that was practically what kept me on the edge of my seat. The plot was great as well. I've seen films that tackled dream vs reality (The Matrix, Dark City, Episode 7 of Doctor Who S5, etc) but not to the extent of someone implanting an idea or extracting one. It's really a great concept. I like how in the end they kept the audience guessing whether the top stopped spinning meaning if Dominic Cobb stopped dreaming or not. But according to my brother, in the end of the film there was a sound that the top indeed stopped but I can't really be sure since the audience was noisy after the film.

It's obvious to say that this film goes straight to my favorite list of films, it will be joining Inglourious Basterds, The Prestigious, Sherlock Holmes, etc. I would like to see it again if time permits. Kudos to Christopher Nolan for making such an engaging film. I should really watch Memento, it's just sitting there in my collection.
