May 31, 2010 23:11

This is basically a repost/summary of my music blog for this month. Cheers!

Ceo by jj
I adore covers by jj. My favorite would still be Ecstasy, a cover of Lil Wayne's Lollipop. They recently released a cover of Jeremih's Birthday Sex entitled Ceo Birthday.

Paris Featuring Au Revoir Simone (Aeroplane Remix) by Friendly Fires
This is my Parisienne anthem. This 8-minute track contains all my aspirations of living in Paris. I even have different mixes of it, that's how much I love it. If you don't have it yet, then I suggest you listen to it and I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do.

Telephone (Lady GaGa Cover) by Pamplamoose
Pamplamoose is a duo consisting of Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn. Their cover of Telephone is very reminiscent of The Bird and the Bee's Fucking Boyfriend, complete with xylophone sounds. C'est très mignon!
M4A

Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap
It's one of the songs that I fell in love with while listening to (500) Days of Summer soundtrack. I just love the progression and the way the lead singer emphasizes "sweet disposition".

Lisztomania by Phoenix
Simply brilliant! I ♥ Phoenix.
LISTEN | MP3

Sleepyhead by Passion Pit
What I love about this song, is that it is the opposite of a lullaby. It puts me in a trance whenever I listen to it.
LISTEN | MP3

Hot N' Fun Featuring Nelly Furtado by N.E.R.D.
This track is really nice, not as fast and chaotic as Everyone Nose but very similar to You Know What (my fave from Seeing Sounds).

Hello Good Morning Featuring T.I. by Dirty Money
This track will be included in Diddy's Last Train To Paris. Dirty Money is a duo consisting of Dawn Richard of Danity Kane and Kalenna Harper. This track is really good, it reminds me of Timbaland's Morning After Dark and having T.I. on this track is a big plus.

Like A G6 Featuring Cataracs & Dev by Far East Movement
When I first heard this track I thought it came out straight from Ke$ha's album. Lots of references to drinking and 808 beat drum. The hook is really infectious and it's perfect for partying.
LISTEN | MP3

Club Love Featuring E-40 by The Cataracs
I just love the beat in this track. It's heavily-influenced by the hyphy movement (Bay Area) and sounds a bit like New Boyz minus the skinny jeans and that annoying jerking dance. But seriously, this track is really hot.
LISTEN | MP3

Young Love Featuring Laura Marling by Mystery Jets
This song sounds like Peter Bjorn & John's Young Folks but it talks about missed chance on love. Sometimes you wish you could have done something and in the end you regret not doing anything and wonder what could have been.

Paper Planes by M.I.A.
Probably the most fascinating thing about Paper Planes is the sound of the (All I want to do is...) gunshots and the cash register (...and take your money) which makes this track epic. I really enjoy it every time I listen to it.

Electric Feel by MGMT
I'm not MGMT's biggest fan but I love this song. I love it a way that I want to get married to it. Can I please get a boy who can sing this to me? With the emphasis on "You are my electric girl."
LISTEN | MP3

Little Bit by Lykke Li
I love Lykke Li, she's a bit eccentric but really talented. I can write another entry about her music because she's that brilliant. Anyway, this song is really sweet perhaps sweeter than Sweet Disposition (LOL) and it's very cute. I think this song is about being scared to admit one's feelings because once he/she admits those feelings it might not be reciprocated.

The Facebook Song | Are You Fucking Kidding Me? by Kate Miller-Heidke
I think everyone who has a facebook account can relate to this most especially if you've experienced a breakup. :(

I'm Real Featuring Ja Rule (Murder Remix) by Jennifer Lopez
The whole Murder Inc. crew dominated most of my grade school days. I remember listening to this on our beat-up cd player in our classroom along with songs from Missy Elliott and Nelly. All I can say is "It's Murdahhh!"
MP3 (I'm sure you already have this in your mp3 player, but feel free to download if you don't have it yet.)

Standing in the Way of Control by The Gossip
Beth Ditto wrote this song as a response to the ammendment that rules out same-sex marriage. She said "I wrote the chorus to try and encourage people not to give up. It’s a scary time for civil rights, but I really believe the only way to survive is to stick together and keep fighting." She's awesome like that, so is this song.

Hummer by Foals
The lyrics don't make much sense but it's a great song to dance and go crazy to. Not sure if I posted this song here already.

Clap Your Hands (Diplo Remix) by Sia
I like remixes by Diplo, his mixes can either be great or just annoying. I like what he did with the M.I.A. and Santigold mixtapes before and I like what he did with this Sia track now. The track picks up around 1:30, it's really catchy even though it just repeats the same line "clap your hands". I really like it.

Inside + Out (Apostle of Hustle Unmix Live At The BBC) by Feist
It's a beautiful cover of the Bee Gees' Love You Inside And Out. Feist did a magnificent job with this cover, the live version from her album Open Season is so much better than the studio version from Let It Die. A+!
LISTEN | MP3

Born Free (High Contrast Remix) by M.I.A.
I didn't like the original version of M.I.A.'s Born Free. However, this remix made it better and more danceable.
LISTEN | MP3

Skinny Love by Bon Iver
Such a tragic yet beautiful song. I just love Bon Iver's voice and this is a masterpiece.
LISTEN | MP3

Crimewave (Crystal Castles VS Health) by Crystal Castles
My favorite Crystal Castles track. I can live if this is the only Crystal Castles' track left in the world. Believe me that this track is the only thing you need from them, it summarizes what this band is = superbly magnificent.
LISTEN | MP3

No Surprises by Radiohead
No Surprises is such a lovely tune but the lyrics may have some suicidal tendencies. Seriously, it's really a great song.
LISTEN | MP3

Hometown Glory by Adele
If I have to pick one song, just one song from Adele's album this would be it. I love it so much even though the intro is a bit long. It such a beautiful song. I love the way Adele emphasizes words such "thick" and "opaque", you can feel the emotion she wants to express. Just brilliant!

True Colors (Cyndi Lauper Cover) by Ane Brun
Ane Brun changed the arrangement, making it in its simplest form = very exquisite piano version. Swedish music <3
LISTEN | MP3

Temptation Greets You Like Your Naughty Friend by Arctic Monkeys
One of Arctic Monkeys' greatest songs that is not even on their LPs. I found this little gem through an indie playlist that was circulating the torrent world last 2008. This track is originally part of the Brianstorm EP and it features British rapper, Dizzee Rascal. Hi Alex Turner, I wish you can sing this to me. :))
LISTEN | MP3

XXXO by M.I.A.
IMO, it's better than Born Free since it's more upbeat, less noisy and paired with catchy chorus. I'm really feeling this dubstep track from Rusko, I want more songs like this in her new album.
LISTEN | MP3

Every Time You Go by Ellie Goulding
Every Time You Go is one of my favorite songs from Ellie Goulding's Lights. She describes her music as "folktronica". C'est cool!
LISTEN | MP3

We'll Be Alright (Supergrass Cover) by Travis McCoy
I quite like this cover of Supergrass' Alright. Travis "Travie" McCoy's rhyming skills are incredible so I wish he made an effort of including a rap verse since he did made this '95 classic into contemporary.
LISTEN | MP3

Alright by Supergrass
The original version if you want.
LISTEN | MP3

Animal (Miike Snow Cover) by Sky Ferreira
Sky Ferreira's piano version of Miike Snow's Animal is definitely refereshing. Since, the track is broken down into simpler parts, you can focus on the vocals and the lyrics. I can't believe she's just 17 and her vocals are not that bad.
LISTEN  | MP3

Animal by Miike Snow
LISTEN  | MP3

Big Jet Plane by Angus and Julia Stone
Angus and Julia Stone, a brother-sister duo from Australia produces the sweetest folk music next to Bon Iver, the way they mix their vocals is really special.
LISTEN | MP3

Draw Your Swords by Angus and Julia Stone
I love the bit when they sing "You are the only one." Folk music <3
LISTEN | MP3

Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready) Featuring Drake by Alicia Keys
It's only now that I'm fully appreciating this track and I must say it's really good.
LISTEN | MP3

Fireworks Featuring Alicia Keys by Drake
What I really like about Drake is how his lyrics actually make sense and not just random words that make up a rhyme. He's good and his talent is evident from this track. I really look forward to his new album, Thank Me Later.
LISTEN | MP3

ADD SUV Featuring Pharrell by Uffie
If you need a replacement for Ke$ha or a filler while you wait for the M.I.A. new record, then listen to Uffie, a Paris-based rapper. I adore her little banging beats and steady rhymes.
