CONTEXT: Support for the South Dakota "law" which bans abortion in all circumstances where the pregnant woman's life is not threatened - including rape and incest.
The rape of a woman can never be erased from her psyche. An abortion won't change that. If anytthing, dare I say it'll haunt her even more. Society likes to ignore the lifelong depression and pain of a woman who has chosen abortion, regardless of the circumstances behind her choice. No matter what, that child shares half her DNA. Flushing that fact down the toilet will never erase it from her heart, soul and mind - for the remainder of her life. Rape is a horrible thing - but so is taking an innocent human life and flushing it down the toilet. In the grand-scheme of life. 9 months is a short period of time for a woman to preserve that life - whether she wants it or not. Life trumps all things even if it means hardship on a woman.
