A year ago I was an R.A. in Mathes. A year ago I was loving life: school, work, friends, my family, and everything else. A year ago I lived in Bellingham in room 202, Mathes hall. A year ago I was thinking about applying to some summer camp, probably Camp Orkila but maybe a Girl Scouts camp east of Seattle. A year ago I was just starting spring quarter, my final quarter as an undergraduate student at Western. And a year ago I was just about to turn 21.
Oh, how you can change in a year! Now I'm of course still absolutely loving life though for awhile there I was not. Target did that to me. And not knowing what I wanted to do with my life did that to me. But now - now I'm living at Camp Orkila and working as an Outdoor Environmental Education instructor, teaching kids anywhere from 4th to 8th grade about marine life (plankton/invertebrates/salmon), the forest (deciduous and confier trees!), outdoor living skills (how to build a fire, the 10 essentials), and aboutthe Geodesic Dome. It's absolutely amazing. Now I am a resident of Osprey House, 484 Camp Orkila Road. Now I am meeting new people all the time from different regions of the country, and often even the world.
And in 4.5 hours I will be 22! It's good to be alive.
