chicken scratch

Since coming to Plymouth I have mainly abandoned journaling or working through drafts of essays and poems in notebooks. I type everything right off now. There are advantages for this. As I am an editing and revision addict the computer format is very helpful. The disadvatage is that I don't have as many old books to flip through and watch my handwriting change with my mood and cross out line after line as I struggle over thoughts. My delete key makes things much more concise and tidy.

I still have my little pocket notebook with random ideas and lists etc. of course, but that isn't the same.

I was just looking through a book of mine that I was using when I transferred here, the last bits in it are at least 2 years old.
So amusing to flip through it.
Some of the trends are still pieces I am working on. Also I found:

a great recipe for creamy vegan soup that I had totally forgotten about,
a photo of my homeboys and I at Easter in 2001,
a ton of really horrid poetry,
a receipt from the climbing gym in California, a list of places I wanted to climb in the world (hey, I have crossed out two now!),
a list of my favorite things in 2002.

Here is that list:

6. patchwork quilts
5. boots that make your feet feel feather light when you take them off.
4. unreasonably optamistic anticipation
3. the endless supply of unfamiliar things
2. un-influenced motivation
1. words made acceptable by Poe like; SYLLABIFICATION

p.s. I love reading the interests list on peoples LJ info pages.

well, as usual I am late to be somewhere.
