I actually gave up on Anita Blake several books ago. My brother held out longer than me but apparently even he couldn't read that last one. I don't know what it was that finally got him to quit, but I do remember what was the last straw for me (though I don't actually recall which book it was at the moment). I just remember reading a line, stopping and flipping back several pages and realizing 'yes, she is reusing dialogue between sex scenes.' And that was it, no more LKH for me.
Heh, sparkly vampires (I love your glitter pot line). I read the line in Twilight where she reveals that her vampires sparkle in the sunlight. I had this moment: "Shit, they were serious!? I thought that was some kind of slang or a joke! Like Firefly when they call good stuff 'shiny'..." Oh well, Sparkles the Vampire obviously doesn't do it for either of us, so I guess the raving teen hordes can have him uncontested (by us, and face it, we're the only ones that matter).
