Dunmurderin Ficverse Timeline:

Another aide to memory like the FC list. Anything in all italics is actual canon. Everything else? I made it up.

List is being annotated with the stories I write as a way to keep them in some semblance of order and to have a master fic list

Prior to the revolt: The Quintessons founded Cybertron in the traditional fashion: they took over territory that already belonged to somebody else, filed off the serial numbers and stated loudly that it was theirs! Cybertron was chosen because of the pre-existing primitive machine life that could be found there. The Quintessons took over the planet, enslaved the native population and put them to work making products for the Quintessons to sell on the galactic market.

The Quintessons were also big on experimentation (such as the Trans-Organics). The galactic market demanded novelty, after all. That and the Quintessons themselves like opening things up and seeing what makes them tick. Whether they’re still able to tick afterwards is usually immaterial to the experiment. The existence of naturally occurring mechanical life was too great a temptation and the Quintessons used what they learned from Cybertron’s native population to create better and better robotic slaves.

Over time, there were two main production lines: Military Hardware and Consumer Goods. Consumer Goods were centered around production facilities in the Northern Hemisphere of the planet, while Military Hardware centered around the Southern Hemisphere. Within each production line, there were dozens and -- at the peak of production -- hundreds of different products being produced. The robot slaves were of varying shapes and sizes and levels of intelligence. Some were little better than micromaster or minicon sized drones, others were fully sentient scientists, skilled workers or companions.

There were also slaves who were built to work on Cybertron as factory workers and as guards, order processors, etc. It was from this cadre that the revolution was formed.

Eleven Million Years Ago: The Quintessons’ robot slaves revolt, taking the planet Cybertron as their own. The revolt was led in part by Beta and A-3 (who later became Alpha Trion).

In my ficverse, Ironhide and Kup were created shortly before the revolution. They were among the last generation of Cybertronians born into slavery. I’m also toying with the idea that Wheelie is from these last days of slavery as well and was originally created as some kind of kids’ toy who never got sent off planet.

During this period immediately after the revolution and before the start of the Golden Age, the Cybertronians were divided about how to react to the predominately organic races of the galaxy. The early ancestors of the Autobots were more inclined toward forgiving and forgetting -- mostly forgetting -- about their enslavement and moving forward to build a society that was uniquely Cybertronian. The early Decepticons were more prone toward wanting vengeance, not just against the Quints but against any other non-Cybertronian race, particularly those who held robotic slaves. Ultimately, the need to fulfill basic needs: food, shelter, etc. came first.

Autobots and Decepticons started out as early political parties on Cybertron.

Ten Million Years Ago: Megatron Created Not entirely sure if this is canon or simply fanon that I’ve heard repeated often enough that it sticks in my mind as canon. Either way, it fits. Megatron was built by person or persons unknown originally then rebuilt by the Constructicons when he first came to lead the Decepticons.

Megatron started out as a gladiator. While many Autobots considered this a barbaric practice, many Decepticons and many unaffiliated or neutral Cybertronians considered it a good way to spend some leisure time. Megatron’s success in the ring and his natural charisma attracted followers to him, strengthening the Decepticon cause. Or at least, Megatron’s faction of the Decepticon cause.

Nine Million Years Ago: The Third Cybertronian War breaks out. Optimus Prime reborn from the seriously wounded cargo handler, Orion Pax. Elita-1 reformatted from Ariel.

Six Million Years Ago: The Combaticons were created by the neutral scientist, Wrench in the neutral city of Fossatense. The Combaticons leave Fossatense after their creator’s death, knock about the Neutral Territories for a while working as thugs and mercenaries and are eventually recruited by the Decepticon Pressgang. Within ten thousand years of their creation, they’ve been executed for the attempted assassination of Shockwave.

It is at this point that things begin to go from bad to worse for the Autobots.

Four Million Years ago: Optimus Prime leads the Ark mission. Megatron leads a group of Decepticons after the Autobots. Both missions are declared MIA after passing through an asteroid field.

Arcee, Springer, Hot Rod and Ultra Magnus all created about this time, either shortly before or shortly after the Ark left.

Two Million Years Ago: Things go worse to horrible for the Autobots in the time after Prime disappears. Not so much because Prime is gone -- Elita-1 and Alpha Trion are effective leaders, if not as charismatic as Prime was -- but because Shockwave is much more calculating about how he executes the war than Megatron was. Shockwave cuts Autobot lines of supply wherever he finds them, causing his enemies to spend much of their time struggling to keep themselves in fuel and spare parts and less and less time able to attack him in any significant fashion. His use of drone armies increases the Decepticons’ numbers without risking sentient soldiers. The neutral faction has all but disappeared, with most turning to the Decepticons if only because the Decepticons are the ones who are keeping the lights on and putting fuel in peoples’ tanks.

The Autobot movement splinters. Elita-1 and Alpha Trion lead the largest remnant of those loyal to Prime and the movement’s ideals. Many other Autobot factions descend into barbarism, attacking anyone on either side for whatever fuel or spare parts they can get.

One Million Years ago: Pipes, Tailgate, Outback and Swerve created.

1932: Sparkplug Witwicky born.

1970: Spike Witwicky and Carly NLN born.

1984: The Transformers awaken on Earth.

1985: Combaticons reawakened by Starscream. Proceed to be *very* cranky boys.
