So that's my weekend...
I went to
karabean's family reunion thing, which was nice. It wasn't
Pi-Con, but it was nice. The hotel restaurant had pulled pork and brisket.
Then, on Saturday night, I found out that my dad was in the hospital for "unstable angina", which is essentially mini heart attacks that they can't figure out the cause of. Yippee... However, he was stable and they were apparently just monitoring him for safety's sake.
I came back this way on Sunday and stopped into Pi-Con to check on people on my way to the hospital.
Then I found out that he'd had an actual heart attack in the hospital. This apparently had happened at about 1:00am, but I didn't find out until I was leaving Pi-Con. Since they were moving him to Baystate in a little while, we ended up having an early dinner with my mom. Then we went and saw my dad.
He seemed fine, so maybe it's just an itty-bitty one and since he was already in the hospital, maybe there wasn't any real damage. I guess he's scheduled for a catheterization at about 11:00am today. Hopefully they'll get in there and it will be basically nothing. This is his second time going through this and last time they rushed him to Baystate immediately and did the cath procedure right away, so this seems to have been more minor. Hopefully.
I thought about going down there, but I have a followup with my Rheumatologist, Dr. Brown, at 10:40 today. Maybe I can go down later. Poor
karabean is missing work trying to keep me from getting bent out of shape. I feel bad about that. I know she's been having trouble with staffing levels.
Notice that time? 10:40?
I keep seeing that number. It's like that
Indianapolis thing back in April. The Indiana stuff hasn't gone away completely, either.
aelana and I were in Newport, VT about a month back and a red mini-SUV from Indiana blew past us in a no-passing zone. About two hours of driving later, we wound up behind the SAME CAR at a stoplight in Colchester, VT. I've seen a few more Indiana plates lately, more than I ever recall seeing around New England in a one-month period before.
Anyway, I can't figure out what the 1040 thing means.
However, a shitload of people that were going to GenCon this year have had really bad crap happen to them or their families in the last month. There's
larryboy's uncle, my dad, another guy's stepdaughter, people with financial emergencies...
It's probably nothing but my weirdness magnet hackles are up.
1040...
Indianapolis...
Fondue or "Melting Pot"...
Bad stuff...
