Finally, finally, FINALLY I watched this! And you know what? I'm very disappointed, but at the same time absolutely unsurprised that it didn't win an Oscar. They tend to cater to mainstream, it's no secret. Yes, Toy Story means a lot, it's made its big comeback and all, but this is the true art of animation.

Oh God, this looks so beautiful! <333 Is it available somewhere online already?
To tell you the truth, I was a bit upset this didn't get the best animation either. But it's understandable. America loves Toy Story, everyone was so hyped about its comeback and I hear it's good, so... It was predictable. I think it was even nominated for Best Movie too, which frankly sounds ridiculous b/c why did they do both?
Speaking of the one that one: have you seen King's Speech?

Torrents, I think. That's where I got it from.

Yes, I understand all the reasons for Toy Story to win, but then again, to me the Oscars have never been about art. his one is pure art. The Oscars are more complex than that unfortunately. They combine a number of factors, such as commercial success, popularity, critical success, even symbolism.

I've seen The KIng's Speech. Liked it, too. Well, there's Helena and there's a stuttering Colin Firth, which, let me tell you, is quite ador(k)able. So if you're aving doubts, I rec it.

Now I have a whole list of films I want to see)))
To be honest, who cares about awards? They're just a nice supplement)
Hahaha, I knew instantly when I saw Helena there that you'll be rushing to watch it)) Truth be told, both me and Mom are curious to see it, but I don't want to watch the dub... Same goes for Drive Angry btw. No way I'm sacrificing WF's SEXY voice to the dub.

So you made your Mum watch it in English then? How did she like it?

Yes, awards aren't tht important but it also depends who you're losing to. Sometimes a truly remarkable film loses to some mainstream mediocrity and you can't hep being bitter about it. (Now, I'm not calling Toy Story mediocre, it's just a generic example, but it's certainly mainstream.) Then again, it's an honour to be nominated, especially for a non-American film. I remember the elation of Spirited Away winning Best Animation; now that was something.
