This is why Doctor Who ruined me
I watched Melancholia yesterday and I'm usually not a huge Lars von Trier fan, but that was so, so beautiful.
So when it had ended and the credits rolled to Wagner's Tristan and Isolde prelude, I wanted to express how it had moved me - showing depression from the outside and the inside with such finesse (not just in the sisters, but everyone!), I wanted to ask what the 19th hole signified, wanted to talk about the metaphorical layers of the rogue planet, how great the transition between life and art can work in such simple pictures...
... but all that came out was "Fuck you, Doctor. Where were you?"
