Torchwood 2x09 - Something Borrowed

I love the scriptwriters, because with just one little scene they rescued a quite below-average episode

Not much to say about the episode itself as it wasn't quite interesting or thrilling (it really felt like a soap opera in places), was quite long in places and did nothing to inspire my Gwen!love (also, I hate weddings). And the forced Jack/Gwen emo got on my nerves.

Still, Ianto buying a wedding dress and respecting Dead!Owen = Win. And I can't help but love Rhys for trying to save his wife with a chainsaw. A classic (and Jack watched Evil Dead? Oh, the plot bunnies...) *g*

But what saved this ep was that last scene that showed Jack getting married (somewhen at the turn of the century, I guess). Why? Because it negated all that fake "I wanna have Gwen for myself" emo Jack seems to have ever since season 2 and turned it into something quite different and meaningful. It's always so nice to see glimpses of Jack's past when they're in context to the present.

And who is she?

Aww, I love these old photographs so much. For a moment I thought she'd be one of the Torchwood operatives from 'To the Last Man', but sadly it's not her.

5/10
