No Quote of the Day today, sorry. More just a rant to get my nervous worry off my mind.
Dear Mannfred,
You're my constant source of inspiration in swimming. Today was my first practice that I cleared 2 miles at since I fucked up my ankle playing soccer. I kept telling myself - keep going, Mannfred wouldn't stop now.
Warmup:
500 Free
50 fly kick
400 Back
300 Breaststroke
200 Fly drills (1450)
Main:
3 x 300 freestyle drill (2350)
50 free sprint (2400)
2 x 200 fly drills (2800)
4 x 100 IM, by 100s (3200)
200 freestyle (3400)
200 warmdown (3600 yds).
Not quite up to your level, but it was a solid workout.
Best regards,
Me
*begin rant* However, stuff started to suck when I got home. After ECCs my supersenior year at Tech, I fucked up my back having raced butterfly in pretty much every event possible over the course of the weekend. That Monday, I had trouble standing up, let alone lifting even my backpack. It hurt consistently over the course of a year, and physical therapy didn't help. Only in the last 4 months have I been able to get any distance in fly without feeling broken the next day. Well, 700 yards of fly drills, and my back hurts like a sunnuvabitch. It's not often that I'm worried about my health- but damn- I don't want to spend the next year and a half in pain again. I've got a medicated sports-cream patch on my back, and I've been stretching- but I'm getting that now-familiar feeling in my lower back again, and I can't help but worry. It's like Wesley (Dread Pirate Roberts?) said-
Prince Humperdinck: First things first, to the death.
Westley: No. To the pain.
Prince Humperdinck: I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase.
Westley: I'll explain and I'll use small words so that you'll be sure to understand, you warthog faced buffoon.
Argh.
-out.
