Tuesday's Snow Day

Dec 11, 2008 09:54

I really needed that snow day. Monday I walked around muttering and snapping at people. Crossed fingers and pray for snow. At 5 a.m. I looked out the window to see no snow. Crap. Get up and throw work pants in dryer. Go back to bed. Jump when a text message comes through. School closed!!! Yipee!!! Forward message to work mate and brother. Go back to sleep.

After waking up much later and taking a long hot shower, the kids and I actually got more done then watching the most recent disc of The Twelve Kingdoms to come from Netflix. My boss extended my position until the end of August so I baked. Since I hadn't played with the giant cupcake pan I did that. The bottom is a pain to frost so I made a ganche. What is something that took about 5 minutes to make so expensive at bakeries? All it was was heavy cream and chocolate chips.

We worked on the cake on and off so it could cool and set. During that we watched the dvd, trimmed 1.5 Christmas Trees, made lemon bars, tidied living room, set up the train, decorated the bookcase with holiday stuff, cleaned the fridge, cleaned under a cabinet in the kitchen, put in Pepsi and Coke points, and took a nap.

After all of that I went outside to shovel the driveway. I like shoveling. It is peaceful. The kids came and went to "help" and play in the snow.

Then came a book and a cup of hot chocolate.

All in all I really good day.

Some pictures of the day...
