Round 3

Aug 08, 2006 13:08

Ok so I've postponed this long enough. I had some grand plans but I just don't watch a whole lot of tv now, but now we can find out who of you does. As many have already heard your category for this round is TV commercials. So let's see who has to much time on their hands. Same rules as before first answer scores and just because someone put up an answer doesn't mean it's right. Good luck.

1. I can’t believe it’s not butter Fabio is shilling for in this commercial. Instead, we see him in a gondola with a young woman. Fabio reaches for a rose, but as she turns around to accept it we see the ravages of age on a wrinkly grey-haired Fabio. What company warns “life comes at you fast”?
2. “Get your smile on” with this ad, which showcases what flavor of Lays Potato Chips?
3. “Wanna get away?” This lady does. Sitting, bored, in her cubical (gee sounds familiar) she opens an email about a new job and accidentally releases a computer virus. What was the name of the virus she unleashed on her company?
4. Egyptian Navigators, Encouraging Norwegians, and Envious Nomands all enjoy what product?
5. 800-588-2300…Every Chicagoan should know that number by heart, but if you want to shop around what number (all numerical digits) would you dial if you wanted to shop at Luna Carpet?
6. According to the commercial and performed in song and dance, what symptoms does Pepto Bismol treat? (need all of them for a right answer)
7. “What’s in your wallet?” Capital One continues to foil the barbarians so they’re forced to find other work. In one ad they form their own band even winning a battle of the bands (when they drive the others off with flaming arrows). What is the name of the band they form?
8. What $80 million ad campaign was inspired by a practical joke popular in Europe and the UK that involves pilfered lawn ornaments?
9. Every parent wants the best for their kids. In one ’06 Super Bowl ad a dad takes it all out. After seeing a neighbor throwing a foot ball around and viewing his own son’s lack of coordination, this dad (with the help of the product) builds his son his own field of dreams spanning a number of back yards complete with field lines and stadium lighting. What was the commercial for?
10. Double the thrill, double the excitement, double the fun….with what product?
11. A gazelle appears to be a lion’s dinner until the tables are turned and the gazelle is the one hunting down the king of beasts. What is the slogan touted by this Hyundai commercial?
12. What product bears it all in a recent commercial when it’s shown on a nude beach?
13. “I want to know who’s got the notion, to rock the boat” in this commercial?
14. The newest Mastercard commercial features the second most ingenuitive hero there is, MacGyver (losing only to Batman…cause he’s Batman). So according to the commercial what are the little things that help MacGyver through his day and what does he use them for (need both and a point for each item/use) and for bonus points how much did they cost.

I’m told 14 is a good number so there you have it. I reserve the right to accept answers as I want them so no complaints there. Enjoy.
