RP Logs Sol - Justin

Sol: Father?

J: *Looks up to acknowledge her, but doesn't say anything*

Sol: *sighs softly and goes closer, just wrapping her arms around him from the back* Breathe. Please.

J: *He takes a few deep breaths*

Sol: *quietly* We all love you, Father. You know that, right?

J: Hmmm. *Not confiming or denying, really and not especially talkative*

Sol: *haha, how unimpressed she is by not-talkative...* What did happen? I gathered that there was ... stuff, and Maddy - at least - ended up saying something disrespectful. Will you tell me, please?

J: It was actually a very short incident. She insulted me. We exchanged glares. Your Mother intervened

Sol: Yes, but before that? *softly* You've taught us to look at why people are doing things. And when something looks bad, who started it and how. Will you help me find out, please?

J: Yes, but not right away. I'm moody and not thinking especially level headed at the moment.

Sol: *nods, then moves to sit close to him so that she's no longer behind his back* But maybe if we look together at the whys, that will help calm you down.

J: Perhaps.

Sol: *looks at him for a moment, then reaches for a book - she can wait till he decides to speak - but she's there with him. He's not isolated* Whenever you are ready, Father.

Later

J: *A bit calmer* So, what do you know about all of this?

Sol: That Pol was out, I think in male company, and that you're unhappy with that. Angry. And that Pol's closed up in his room, and Maddy's obviously not in favor of your reaction.

J: All of that is true.

Sol: *lays the book aside and leans forward* And what did you learn and from where, to make you that angry - if I may be so bold as to ask?

J: There was talk of him being spotted at a ... *cant seem to get the word gay out* ...

Sol: *calmly* A place that you do not approve of.

J: Indeed.

Sol: But does being in a place you don't approve of mean that he's doing something you don't approve of?

J: *Takes a deep breath, almost begrudgingly admits* No, not necessarily.

Sol: *nods, and adds quietly* And... he's still Pol who was here last week, or yesterday, isn't he. He's not become a stranger just because he went someplace. Or just because somebody told you he went someplace.

J: *Nods, brow knotted in thought*

Sol: *stands up and kneels beside the arm of his chair, looking up at him, probably a gesture that's not quite appropriate for her age, but hey, habit since childhood* Father... perhaps he was just there with a friend. I've been to places I'd not choose to go to otherwise because friends insisted...
Where did you learn about it all, and what were you told?

J: *He finds the gesture comforting. It makes him smile slightly, but frowns when he comes back to talking about this* It was traveling in the circle of the people who have little more to do then talk. I don't really remember all the details, I heard certain words and then ... my mind wandered (to shock and its own conclusion sort of goes without saying)

Sol: *nods* I understand. I... *small hesitation* I wonder if any of them might have benefitted from you being angry and upset just now. Mentioning it just in the way that would make you react.

J: *He eyes flicker, sort of angry, but certainly thoughtful* That's an interesting thought.

Sol: *oh yes, but it's a different sort of angry now, isn't it. Not the unreasonable anger of a father feeling betrayed by his son. The anger that now can permit reasoning, rather than slipping down into blind rage that he will probably later regret* There's enough about this that bears thinking about. *her hand goes up to cover his arm lightly* I just don't want to see you - any of you - hurt over hearsay.

J: *Firey, passionate, blind and often misdirected anger. Not the first time he'd succumbed to it. Nor was he the first in the family to be aflicted by such a thing. Still, he was thinking again, not just brooding* There is. *He said, agreeing legitimately and smiling at his daughter's gentle touch, when it came*

ic, aim logs, is pol gay?, justin
