Wow, it's been quite a while since my last post. This one probably won't be long but I have been wanting to post something since Saturday. On Saturday, my Mom took me out for lunch to celebrate my birthday. She gave me the option of choosing where to go and I decided to check out the
Midtown Global Market. I heard about it from some friends and the
Uncle Hugo's newsletter. It's part of the Midtown Exchange work where they renovated the old Sears building.
It's a pretty fun place. A large number of various ethnic stores and restaurants. We walked around and had to figure out which of them we wanted to have lunch at. It was a challenging decision. Eventually however we decided to have tamales at La Loma Tamales. I had a combo with a large Oaxacan tamale, my mom had two smaller tamales, chicken and sweet corn. We shared them and they were all excellent. Next time I think I will have some goat or something from Safari. They had a special that I sampled that would probably have been my next choice for lunch. My Mom also found that one of the markets there carries Costa Rican food like Lizano Sauce and Mayonnaise with lime. We had a great time walking around, talking and playing with Sam.
Speaking of Sam, I'm really loving this new mobility phase as he is getting more and more proficient and playful. Karin already mentioned how he loves when you get down on his level and crawl at him. The consistent joyfulness he demonstrates when you play with him is so wonderful. Another great game is to crawl somewhere just out of his sight so that he will come and find you. So much fun!
Sadly, not everything lately has been full of fun. Last night I was pretty disappointed. I was at church for Youth Group and had left my coat on a hanger in the foyer. In my coat pocket was my MP3 player, unfortunately someone found that out and took it. Shame on me for not putting it somewhere safe. Sadly for them it's unlikely that they'll actually be able to use it. They may not have the cable, although that went missing a couple weeks ago and I had just received a new one from Ebay, at the time at least I thought I had lost it. Maybe I had. Even if they do have the cable it's running Rockbox firmware and won't auto sync or even show up on a PC when plugged in unless they know the trick. So hopefully, they or whoever they can foist it off on enjoys an eclectic mix of music, podcasts and old time radio and that will teach me to be more careful.
