Soon to Embark. Destination. Ankara Turkey

March 14th marks the week I met an affluent Turkish girl on Myspace who invited me to Turkey. I said yes, so I'll go either in April or August depending on my cash flow. MY stocks have been shitty so pulling money out in time for an April excursion seem doubtful. However April will be the month that both her parents will be on vacation in Spain. This both means that a) no supervision, and b) no hotel expenses for myself.
Despite all of my optimism, I am a bit skeptic. She comes across as loving America, somewhat a bit to heavily, so I am concerned she is after a green card. However, her ficus of collegiate studia is American History and Culture, and her command of the English Language seems exceptional form what i can tell over Instant Messenger and web-cam. Yet secondly, her father works for the Turkish equivalent of the FBI, and if I was a father whose daughter was dating a fellow from a country that is apparently (although not actually) hostile towards muslims, I may pull a few strings and have him thrown into the slammer, or at least make his visit as difficult as possible. Haven't you seen 'Midnight Express?'

Lend me your thoughts. Is going to Turkey an irrational decision? What are your travel experiences, or suggestions when traveling in Turkey?
