I'm so excited I'm barely coherent :-D
The crazy thing is I don't even like soccer. I've never even watched an entire game on TV. Hell, I don't even know how many players there are on each team! I'm totally psyched 'cause the WC is HERE. In South Africa. In my home.
So many people thought we couldn't pull it off. There was even talk of moving the entire tournament to Australia FFS. So take that you haters! *sticks out tongue*
The atmosphere is electric, the entire country is in party mode. There are flags flying from everyone's cars and there's such a feeling of pride and togetherness it's just awesome :-)
It might seem odd to countries where the citizens are inherently patriotic (for example, Americans) but many of us South Africans tend to be quite gloomy and negative about ourselves and our country. It's awesome to see everyone united and excited and realise that we are capable of great things.
Everyone! Check the WC out! If only to see my awesome home in all its awesomeness!!
