This week has been pretty eventful for little old me.
Last Friday I had an interview at Sheffield University to do their MA in Magazine Journalism, which I thought went ok and apparently it went better than that as I got a letter this week offering me an unconditional place there for September! GET IN! It's going to cost me over £5k but it's what I've been desperate to do and hopefully gives me a great springboard into journalism as a career. It better at that price.
Then Wednesday everything got confirmed for moving in with Jeni and Varun and their other housemate Lisa, after Tom moved out. So now I going to be Tom for the next six months. Can't wait to live with Jeni and Varun (probably slightly more excited about living with Jeni if I'm honest...lol) but also very much looking forward to living closer to the city centre even if it does mean getting to work is that little bit harder in the morning. But talk about moving fast...I move in tomorrow, I only met the landlord last week. Or more accurately I start moving in tomorrow - the people who I'm renting off at the mo have said I can take as long as I need to move everything out of this place...within reason obv. But yes that will be good.
Thirdly my band had our first gig/playing-in-front-of-people-instead-of-ourselves-and-four-walls-of-the-rehersal-room yesterday. It was fun but we were all pretty anxious/nervous/excited about it yesterday morning. We were playing as part of Hearing Aid in the blue bar on campus in the middle of the day while people were in there drinking on Fake St Paddy's Day. And we were playing alongside a band who I heard it muttered more than once that they were signed or practically signed. To be fair they were pretty good and we had to cut their performance because we could be heard in the Arts building. If you don't know UEA campus, Arts is practically the other side of the campus to the blue bar so we must have been pretty loud! :)
Finally last night we had our first big Ignite outing. Ignite is the group for 11-13 year olds at church and we took them to laserquest and got them to bring their friends and we had 24 kids come along. It was awesome! I had a lot of fun. I'm fairly sure the kids did too. And I'm really glad I went. As people may or may not have picked up in posts I've made I've had a fairly rough, well...year or two really, but the last six or so months were some of the worst and I asked to come off team from youth and worship at church back in October/November of last year when it became more than apparent that I wasn't coping anymore.
It's been a long uphill struggle, with the odd nose dive thrown in just for fun and it's not over but things have been improving over the last month or two. I came off my meds recently which was quite an achievement. I'd been on antidepressants for the last year and probably should have been on them much longer than that but at first I wasn't diagnosed with Depression and then when I was diagnosed with it, I flat out refused to take them - I'd had enough of being a chemical slot machine.
But yea, I'm on the up so to speak. :)
