Immigration Nightmare...

It has been nothing but a pain for us. We tried to file for my husband social visit visa since early this year only to be told that the policy has a 6 months cooling off period. Totally not cool since no one told is when we went to the department to get the forms and consultation. They heard our explaination, gave us the form and told us to come back with it once we've finished it.

The day before yesterday, I opened our files again and saw that my husband's visa has expired almost a month ago!!! OMG! They didn't give him a 90 days visa but gave instead a 30 days visa (the numbers are in the fine print so you really have to look to see it) and we both didn't notice! I took an emergency time off and we (as in I strong armed Cory) decided that it has to be resolved by yesterday.

We went to Damansara immigration office to file his spouse social visa and get his current visa corrected. After waiting for 1.5 hours for the number, we were told. "Sorry, our we don't have enough officer to do this work today. Can you come back again? Any day after today?" WTF?! Why couldn't you post a HUGE sign on the board/electronic board stating this?? You just wasted my time waiting for nothing!

On advice from another fellow visa holder (she is the wife of a Malaysia), we went to Putrajaya to file for Cory's visa. Again, we were told, "Sorry, Putrajaya can't process this. We only process visa for China and Nigeria nationality. You have to file in Damansara." ARGH!!!!

At my wit's end, I called Eugene at work and asked him to hook me up with the Shah Alam immigration department's phone number. I managed to speak to En. Mohamed Khalil who was EXCEEDINGLY helpful. He was polite and informative, didn't get annoyed when I asked 10 billion questions and told me that the Wilayah form is acceptable to be used in Selangor. <3

We headed to Wisma PKNS where it housed the immigration department. We had some rude dude who jumped lines because he is more special then ALL of us lining up. The officer at first was puzzled that we didn't file it in Damansara. I offered the explaination that Damansara told us that they don't have enough officer to do it. He rolled his eyes at the lame excuse that was given to us and said in a gist of, "What kind of excuse is that?" He handed us a copy of the Selangor checklist in case we needed to add a few more paperwork and gave us a number. YEY!

After about an hour, we got to the counter, spoke to a SUPER helpful immigration officer and was done in about 2 hours. He even fixed my husband's visa :D YEY!

Conclusion : Immigration Shah Alam FTW!
