I went to Delta and saw The Laramie Project tonight...Clifford and Megan D were in it...it was incredible. I mean...wow. That play really is a test of an actor's abilities, you know? I mean, you dont just get to play off of each other like you normally would. Its basically a play of soliloquies. It was so fucking amazing.
If you don't already know, The Laramie Project is about the murder of Matthew Shepard, a homosexual living in Laramie, Wyoming. He was brutally beaten and left to die tied to a post on a road that was seldom traveled by. He died on October 12, 1998. Matthew Shepard was a victim of an intense and nationally publicized hate crime. One of his murderers, Aaron McKinley i think, said in his testimony that he started to beat the fucking shit out of Matt because Matt was hitting on him. What the fuck. You don't just fucking kill someone for hitting on you. Would he have beat the shit out of a chick for hitting on him? I think not. I don't even really believe that Matt did hit on Aaron.
Anyway, the point to me writing about this was that I seriously recommend that anyone in the Stockton area goes to see it. It is so amazing. There is a fucking kick ass group of actors and the subject and text are not something easily dealt with. So yeah. Go see The Laramie Project and remember Matthew Shepard.
