Goodbye?

So, since last post I've gone through the high-dose cyclophosphamide protocol at Johns Hopkins with Dr. Brodsky, an oncologist who pioneered the treatment for SAA (severe aplastic anemia, medical term for bone marrow failure often caused by autoimmune disorders).

You can read about the treatment here or here. It's a promising new protocol for all ( Read more... )

I have to say that the total number of times in my life where I have heard someone say that today is the day they were told that they were walking dead has, thus far, amounted to zero.

I don't know what reaction there is to have. If I show pity, it's giving up, but if I show "hey, hang in there," I show naivety. Is there any chance of getting that last second opinion?

Is it possible to get your mailing address? My yee-mail address is ladybot@gmail.com and I've got a letter to send you.

I know what you mean, I wouldn't know what to say to someone in my position. I hardly know what to say to myself! I'll send you an e-mail.

Oh, Sarah, I really can't say much right now, because I'm crying too much. Many *hugs* and I'll try to say something more constructive later on.

I haven't anything to say, except I'm here, and I'm listening. And, much as I love and worship Dr. House, if they did a show and it had *my* disease and they did it all wrong, I'd probably throw a shoe through my teevee screen. You know a woman who writes for House MD is on LJ? I could dig up her user id if you want.

Thanks tikistitch. Dr. House is great! Of course, I probably wouldn't want to be his patient!! Talk about bedside manner. I'd love to read the LJ if you can find it.

Ah, here she be:

tightropegirl

She wrote the "coma guy" episode, if you remember that one.

And no, I wouldn't want to be one of Dr. House's patients, especially since, he always gets the diagnoses WRONG for several days, whilst we drum up tension.

I wish I believed in reincarnation, meaning, I'd like to. That would be really nice, to go through it all again more comfortably. Because I really don't want to live another 60 years the way I've been living the past three or so! I know you understand about devastating pain. And painkillers never truly take it away. Lately my life has been torture and I'm not sure all the good parts outweigh the bad ( ... )

PS: House did a bit on Marfan Syndrome and got that all wrong as well. So did Grey's Anatomy. It makes me roll my eyes and laugh.
