What the heck, I'll risk it.
[Dulcie lands with a thud on Nathan's bend. She manages to control her appearance well enough that she doesn't land on her injured wing, but her other one ends up crumpled underneath her, shedding a few feathers on the bedspread. She lets out a long hiss, clutching at her injured joint until the pain subsides.]
Okay, bad idea.

[Dulcie rolls over onto her front so that she's mostly splayed out over Nathan's lap.]

[He takes position as an excuse to run his hand through the feathers on her ghost-pained wing. He's kind of assuming it's the other one that hurts, since that's the one she fell on.]
Sure. You know adding on "I always am" is pretty much the equivalent of putting up a sign that says "I'm lying" in big, flashing letters?

[Dulcie's wing twitches at the intruding fingers, then settles, the feathers rustling slightly. The pain is still sharp along her wing, but at least Nathan is doing a valiant job of distracting her.]
