I got my essay back yesterday and oh my gosh, I did really well! I am so, so pleased! I got a 2:1, and apparently only two people in the whole year got a 1st, so that means that, classification wise, only two people did better than me! Others may well have got a higher percentage, but whatever. My seminar tutor said that it was one of the highest in all the classes that she teaches, so I'm happy. Also, I ran into Adam mere moments after I'd collected my essay, when I was all bouncy and pleased, and it turned out that he was 15 minutes early for his tutorial, so I got to sit with him for a bit and flirt so ridiculously subtly that I doubt he even noticed. In fact, it probably wasn't even flirting; I'm new to all of this - I was probably just making normal conversation.
In the evening, I was really looking forward to going out - my friend Sarah and I planned to go to the Stile, because we haven't been there yet - but then everything fell through and I ended up woefully lonesome in my room. Adam had just given me his phone number, you see, and so Sarah, who really wants to met him for more than a passing moment, persuaded me to call and invite him to come out with us. She was going to invite Simon as well, who she desperately fancies and who was luckily the only one of our friendship group who wasn't busy. So I called Adam, but it turned out that he had plans (with Tony, a philosophy guy who monopolises far too much of Adam's time and thus deserves derisive italics), so that meant that it would just be me, Simon and Sarah going to the Stile. This never happens, because the rest of the group are literally never away at the same time, and so I kindly offered to be busy so that Sarah could spend some time alone with Simon. She was really, really grateful, and it was my idea, but it meant that I didn't get to go out after all.
And all this happened after Matthew and Andy knocked on my door to invite me to go bowling - I had told them that I already had plans with Sarah. it turned out that the bowling place wasn't open, though, and so once everyone had come back we all watched Ghostbusters in Andy's room. It's a ridiculously crap movie, but it was fun all the same. I kept gazing at Neil, though, which I really shouldn't do if I'm going to encourage Adam, but oh, he's just so lovely! *sigh* I feel so torn.
