Summary: When you wish up on a star, makes no difference who you are… unless you are a vampire in love with a human, that is. Jared hasn’t been a vampire long enough to completely stop caring about things, but even so, he’s baffled by how strongly he’s drawn to Jensen the first time he sees him. One quick visit with The Blue fairy, and he’s on his way to becoming human. It’s not as easy as he thought it would be, and his newly minted cricket-friend Chad isn’t helping matters at all.

i also gotta give lots of love to blackrabbit42 who is an absolute sweetheart!! i felt so lucky to be able to illustrate for her! this story made me feel as though j2-everafter was reborn in a beautiful burst! i love j2 and disney, why not j2 pinocchio? yes pls! from start to finish it was such an amazing story and i hope everyone gets the same incredible FEEELS that i experienced.
i always love and manage to find myself overdoing a theme/design so once i started with a stained glass look for the banner the rest snapped into place. i wish i had the brain power to draw an entire graphic novel based on this story but i could only manage a few meager panels. ah well! it's all gouda! delicious angsty, sweet goudaaaa.

HAHAHA wut. i wanted to have chad michael murray as jiminy cricket featured somewhere in the illustrations but honestly i can't draw him that well so why not just make something crack-tastic in the end.

MOOOOAR artist notes: i had fun torturing myself with each of the stained glass panels and trying to figure out which among the many scenes in particular i could capture.
initially when mapping out things i had thought: oooh maybe jared should be in a monochromatic palette while the rest of the background and cast could be in vibrant colors to contrast and outwardly show how he feels inside, sleepy blah and empty. then i was like uh, wooaaahhh that is way too much to take in. nope nope, staaaahp you. instead i scaled it back and just had vampire!jared's eyes a different color before he returned back to being human. the eyes are kinda meant to be a hunter/predatory color, like a snake.
i was inspired by how jensen's workshop was described and wanted to portray it in the art somehow. that's how the banner was conceptualized and then i just wanted to over-do it all with the rest in stained glass glory. when stepping back to look over what's completed, i'd like to think that maybe dinwiddie the blue fairy herself watched each piece of the work in progress turn into masterpiece panels of the story she helped sculpt. kinda like the glass panels would be her own on-demand channel for whenever she felt like watching.
well it's been another productive doodle season for me! i can't wait till next bb or some other awesome fic fest! yaaaas! time to pass out and hope that once i wake up i'll keep maintaining some semblance of productivity! yaaaaaay zzzzzzz
