I once had a sprawling list of requirements intrinsic to the woman for me. The sheer breadth and depth of the essentials were astonishing. Amdist the edicts citing polylingual aptitude, Olympian cartwheels, muse's beauty and poet's tongue, I failed to account for chemistry. I have been both victim and culprit of this mysterious intangible. For the sake of brevity, I quote my grandmother who is gifted with foresight (as all concerned, doting grandmothers tend to be). "She should be pleasant, kind to others, witty, sincere and quick to laugh."

To that list I will add: culinary inclinations (it would be lovely to share my passion for cooking with someone), a penchant for foreign films (ranging from Japanese horror to Italian romance), enamored by books ("the mind is a terrible thing to waste"), appreciation of family, eclectic taste in music and incredible friends. I find myself strongly attracted to Juliette Binoche and Audrey Tautou...

Now chill, shake and serve. Two olives.
