school?!
bon giorno, classes. gross. ok, actually just in theory they're gross. i would rather just walk around and eat gelato and sleep as much as i want, but these classes definitely seem like they're going to be some of the most interesting ones i'll ever get the chance to take. so far, they have involved sitting in a classroom for about half an hour and then walking around rome for two and a half hours. we only have each class once a week, so that's pretty awesome, and we have a nice long break between classes. on the downside, we got our first project already which is due monday so it looks like that trip to the beach we were going to take this weekend isn't going to happen.
my professors so far have been excellent- they all are basically experts on rome, and i feel as if i'm getting a very different perspective on things i've heard about so many times before. studio was walking around looking at different piazze (plazas), urbanism was a 5 mile walk-jog around ancient rome, and history was following my genius eccentric professor through little streets and churches as she pointed out things i never would have noticed. not really looking forward to the work part of the deal, but learning is certainly fun (and hard on the legs!) so no complaints here.
i'm off to eat lunch and measure the piazza around san maria del pace- we tried to go yesterday but they were filming an italian commercial! ah well, ciao ciao.
