It was when her eyes landed on the table they would be sitting at that she smiled to herself, “Well I bet tonight’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Or more of an embarrassment, Shige thought to himself, his eyes landing on the lovely head of the only person who managed to send his heart into an erratic beating.

“Shige!” Tegoshi called, waving them over. Masuda slowly turned to see the two friends make their way through the club towards the table he’d managed to claim.

“Hey guys,” Arianna greeted, slipping into one of the open seats across from Tegoshi.

Shige merely smiled at the two, before claiming the seat beside Arianna, incidentally being situated across from Masuda.

Masuda let out a sigh, and fixed them both with a grin.

“So, we need a designated driver,” Tegoshi announced.

“I’ll do it,” Shige volunteered hurriedly. “I’ve got a shoot tomorrow morning, so I can’t really drink anyway,” he explained, when he noticed Masuda’s and Arianna’s questioning looks.

“Well I can’t drink much either,” Masuda said, “I’ll keep you company.”

Tegoshi had to fight down a pout, this wasn’t working out at all. He wanted them both nice and drunk, at least Massu, so as to get a good jealous reaction out of him, and maybe if he was lucky a confession and a wet kiss.

“I guess it’s just you and Yoshida-san drinking tonight, Yuya,” Masuda said, fixing his best friend with a smile.

Tegoshi gave him a rather sour look, before sitting down again, and leaning rather closely muttered, “you better do something tonight!”

Masuda turned a bit pink, however neither Arianna nor Shige noticed, as the two were engrossed with the menu.

This didn’t help Masuda at all, as he watched Shige lean his head in towards Arianna, trying to hear her over the rather loud pounding of the music. It was a bit hard to hear much of what the two were whispering, but he did catch Shige let out a happy laugh as Arianna must have said something amusing, Masuda gulped, this wasn’t at all what he had hoped for the night.

“Ari-chan? Would you like to dance?” Tegoshi asked, holding an expectant hand out to her.

Arianna smiled, “sure.” She gingerly accepted his hand, before turning back to Shige. “Can you order me my drink if the barmaid comes by?”

Shige nodded affirmatively, before turning back to perusing the menu.

Within moments Shige and Masuda were left alone, it wasn’t all that awkward, but Masuda felt a bit nervous, keenly aware of every movement Shige made, from brushing a stray lock of hair out of his eyes, to the quick stretch of his shoulders.

“So, what’s up Massu?” Shige asked, with a smile.

Masuda shrugged in response, “not too much, you?”

Shige gave him a quizzical look, “you sure?” he asked.

“of course, why?”

Shige blushed a bit, and paused trying to find proper words. Somehow Masuda found this quite attractive, a slight flush creeping up Shige’s neck and engulfing the smooth cheeks.

“You just seem kind of sad, or far away sometimes. I thought something might have been bothering you,” Shige explained.

Masuda was a caught off guard and didn’t quite know how to respond, after all he’d thought he’d done a good job of hiding his feelings.

Before he could come up with a proper answer the bar maid stopped to take their order. “Hello boys, what can I get you?” she asked, giving them both a winning smile.

Shige turned to her, “I’ll have a bottle of water and one of these here,” he pointed at the menu, indicating the drink Arianna wanted.

“Dry or sweet?” the girl prompted.

“Umm, dry?” Shige asked, not really sure of Arianna’s drinking preferences, seeing as how he’d never really gone to a bar with the young woman.

“And you?” The girl asked turning to Masuda.

“One tall, warm Sake and one iced tea,” he answered absently.

The girl quickly took note of their order and practically ran off.

“So?” Shige prompted again, breaching the prior subject.

Masuda blinked, “Well nothing really, I guess you could say I’ve been kind of stressed with the tour and everything.”

Shige didn’t look convinced, but figured Masuda wouldn’t say much else. Considering how rather secretive he could be, the best he could hope for was that at some point he’d come out and trust him with whatever it was that was bothering him.

Masuda averted his eyes, not wanting to let anything slip. Shige let out a sigh, and in turn gave his attention to the dance floor that was currently rather crowded with people, couples of males and females alike.

His attention zeroed in on Arianna and Tegoshi who were dancing somewhere near the middle of the dance floor, swinging their hips in time to the music, he noticed how close the two seemed to be, with Tegoshi’s hands taking hold of her body rather liberally, as he skimmed them across her mid-section. Holding the small of her back he maneuvered his hips, if possible, closer, and moving his own hips in time with hers.

The newest release was blaring loudly, and as he watched, Shige nearly went into a state of shock as he watched Arianna swiftly turn to face Tegoshi and pull his shoulders about and somehow end up pressed onto his back, her hips nearly parallel to his, as the two moved in unison.

“Oh, my,” was all Shige managed to say. He blinked, and resolutely turned away, he really didn’t need to see that.

Masuda, watched in slight amusement, Shige always did make the best facial expressions, being the goofball that he was.

“What?” he asked.

Shige merely shook his head, he didn’t trust himself to give a proper description of what he’d just witnessed. However he did glance up to meet Masuda’s gaze.

Masuda felt an electrical charge course through his body, as he stared back at Shige, he felt himself lean forward involuntarily, yearning to be closer to the intellectually cool, brown eyes.

Shige noticed the slightly faraway look on Masuda’s face, and let out a sigh. Perhaps he wasn’t all that great enough company to keep the boy interested.

“I think you need something sweet,” Shige said, bringing Masuda back to reality and away from the intoxicating color of his eyes.

“Huh?”

“You like sweets, right?” Shige said, clarifying his idea. He hadn’t been able to go out much with Masuda lately and so wasn’t completely sure about his eating preferences as of late, but anybody who knew Masuda knew the boy had a tolerance for eating nearly anything.

Masuda nodded slowly, and was rewarded by a grin.

“Excuse me, miss!” Shige called, flagging a waitress down, a different one from before, who hurried over, and seemed to stop mid-step as she stared at Shige.

Obviously she saw a few things she liked, as she slowed her pace, smoothed the front of her skirt and placed a cool smile on her face. “Yes?”

“Sweets,” Shige stated, hoping the waitress would give him a dessert menu.

Her smile only grew wider, as she let out a rather fake laugh, much to Masuda’s displeasure. “Sorry, but I’m not on the menu,” she replied, flirtatiously.

Masuda felt himself turn bright red, and choke on the tea he’d been gulping down.

“Ha?!” was Shige’s response, as he stared at the girl, completely baffled by her response.

“Oooh, good, you got my drink,” Arianna said, as she easily slid into the seat beside Shige and took a deep gulp of the blue frothy drink a waitress had brought over a few minutes earlier.

“And you got the dry one too,” Arianna said, with a smile, placing a light hand on Shige’s arm in thanks.

The rather cool smile the young waitress had had on only moments before indefinitely slipped off her face when she saw Arianna.

“Oh, I…” the girl seemed rather embarrassed, and couldn’t form any proper sentences, and so merely retreated and nearly ran away from the table.

“Wait hang on, about the sweets!” Shige called after her.

For some reason this made Masuda particularly uncomfortable. How was it that the girl was more than willing to openly flirt in front of him, but nearly ran away when she saw Arianna come have a drink?

Was it really that impossible to believe that perhaps he could be with Shige? Who was he kidding, of course it was. A single look at Shige and a look at him, obviously they weren’t together, they didn’t even look proper enough to be together. Shige in all his cosmopolitan grandeur, had massive sex appeal with his tussled and perfect hair, his lovely pink lips looked inviting enough for anyone to want an experimental kiss. And his eyes, what depths they held for Masuda as he could hardly stand to look back at him.

Obviously that nearly inhumanly sexy form of a man did not belong with someone like him, the boy who couldn’t even properly attract a 13 year old, for the mere fact of ‘looking much too immature.’

He let out a rather heavy sigh, receiving a few confused looks from both Shige and Arianna.

Shige took one look at Masuda’s crestfallen face and practically jumped to his feet.

“I’ll be back,” he announced before turning on his heel and disappearing into the crowd.

Arianna didn’t look all that perturbed, however Masuda was quite surprised by Shige’s abrupt departure.

“Are you alright, Masuda-san?” Arianna asked, concern clearly etched in her voice, as she leaned a bit towards Masuda so as to better speak to him.

“Fine,” Masuda responded, with a smile. “Where’s Tegoshi?”

“He’s dancing,” Arianna replied.

“Alone?” Masuda asked, unthinkingly, only to mentally smack himself, of course Tegoshi would have little trouble dancing alone, besides it’s not like any female or male for that matter, would really allow him time to dance alone.

“I’m sure he’s got a partner by now,” Arianna replied, taking another sip of her drink, discreetly observing her drinking partner out of the corner of her eye.

“Would you like to dance?” she suddenly asked, nearly making Masuda again choke on his tea.

“Me?” He asked, surprised.

Arianna nodded, “I mean I’m not the best dancer, but if you’d like to.”

Masuda stared at her a moment, unsure. How weird would that be? To dance with the one person in the world you’ve ever really been jealous of?

But finding no possible or logical reason not to, he merely nodded slowly, before getting to his feet and following Arianna onto the dance floor.

It wasn’t like dancing was hard, Masuda had always had a way with rhythm, what was hard was actually dancing with Arianna, not for the reason that she was a bad dancer, she wasn’t, she was actually quite an apt dancer.

What was hard, was wrapping his mind around the fact that he was dancing with her in particular, the one person in the entire world that at the moment he was completely and utterly jealous of. From the stray lock of dark hair to the intricate curve of a hip, he was jealous.

She was perfect for Shige, something he knew for a fact he himself was not. And it hurt, his chest ached when he thought about it, but it was an undeniable truth, and no matter how much Tegoshi tried to argue that it wasn’t, it was true.

He and Shige just didn’t fit together.

How could the cool and intelligent man of the group ever have any sort of romantic feelings for the boy who was known throughout the entertainment industry for a dimpled smile and a notorious stomach that seemed to never end.

They just didn’t belong together.

Shige returned, balancing about four different plates of desserts in his hand. He precariously placed them on the table, and congratulated himself on making it back without making such a mess.

However once he’d place the plates on the table he noticed one thing, and that was the fact that neither Arianna nor Masuda were present at the table, but rather Tegoshi alone, who sat idly drinking his warm sake and giving Shige an appreciative glance for having such balance.

“Where’d Massu go?” Shige asked.

“Dancing,” Tegoshi said, nodding his direction in the direction of the dance floor, where Masuda was barely visible swaying in time to the music.

“With who?”

“Ari-chan, I think,” Tegoshi replied. “What’s all this?” He asked indicating to the many desserts that were now covering most of the small table surface.

Shige glanced back at the table, distractedly. “Desserts I got for Massu, he looked like he might be able to use a pick me up.”

“Oooohhhhhh,” Tegoshi said, taking a small dip of icing from one of the plates.

Shige glanced away from Masuda’s dancing form and back at Tegoshi. A sudden idea striking him, “Hey, Yuya,” he began.

“Hmm?” Tegoshi replied, absently, stealing another bit off of the cake.

“Do you happen to know what’s been up with Massu lately?” Shige asked, innocently.

Tegoshi paused, his finger halfway to his mouth, as he thought for a moment. His head bowed he smiled to himself, a sudden idea creeping into his mind.

Maybe he could work with this.

Tegoshi let out a heavy sigh, as he gently sucked the last bit of frosting off of his finger, “so you noticed too?”

Shige’s eyebrows twitched, he was getting somewhere.

“I think he may be..” Tegoshi’s voice trailed off, as he swiped another piece of frosting out of the cake, and stared out into the crowd of dancers thoughtfully.

“May be?” Shige prompted.

Tegoshi swiftly looked back at Shige, and gave him a square stare in the eye. “In Love.”

Shige felt his jaw drop in surprise. In love?
